A matter of accent

My Dad once told me about the time when he first met my Mum. He didn't have much money and the next town had just got their first mayor. In our town the word 'mice', was pronounced 'mace' among other changed vowel sounds. Dad asked Mum if she would like to go and see the Mace in the next town. She replied, 'There's enough flipping mace in Beduff, why would I want to go anywhere else to see them?'

That reminds me of myself and my better. He is from South Africa and has a strong British accent. I'm from the south so you can imagine the two of us talking.
