Do you tan or burn?

I rarely am outside long enough to burn. I am fair skinned, so I don't tan too well, but I haven't actually had a sunburn for years. I would describe my skin now as lightly tanned. I might be outside a bit more as the weather cools. Burner or tanner? Do you wear sunscreen? I usually do.

I'm very fair and I always use sunscreen. My sis had a melanoma cut out last year, now she has to wear special tops that filter the sun. All kinds of precautions. Anyway, I haven't had a sunburn in years because I'm very careful. My nose used to get sunburned when I was a kid. My mom put zinc oxide on it, I was humiliated haha

I tan relatively easily as long as I'm not stupid and stay out too long. My husband is fair-skinned and inclined to be freckly and he finds it very hard to get a tan without burning.

I seem to freckle rather than tan..but as I said, I don't burn. I would have to be outside all day probably for a burn.

@snowy22315 I think UV levels in Australia are much higher than in the northern hemisphere too.

I turn into a crab or lobster if I'm in the sun too long. But I hate to wear sunscreen because I want to get Vitamin D when I'm outside. Which puts me between a rock and a hard place.

I am sure sunscreen doesn't block out all of the Vitamin D

@snowy22315 Huh. After looking into it I discovered you're correct. I'm not sure where I got the idea that sunscreen blocks vitamin D. Weird.

@Genipher I could see where you might get that idea, as it blocks harmful rays, or it should

I burn first and then it turns to a tan. I use sunscreen all the time because I spend a lot of time in the sun in the summer.

I tan very easily and keep my tan for a very long time to. After I get as dark as I want to be I start using sunscreen.
