Dysfunctional Appetite

My cat, Willie, has no sense at all about when to quit eating. If food is available to him he will actually eat until he throws up! And then he will look around to see if he can find something else to eat. Have you had this experience with any of your pets?

We've had a lot of cats, but never one this hungry! He has a fit when it is meal time if we don't feed him immediately.

@clrumfelt Mine is 13 now and still cries like crazy until it is time for her to eat. If I forget by an hour or so she will vomit.

@shaggin
She knows how to get your attention! And also you'd have to clean up after her so it makes you try not to forget.

No, but. .lol. it sounds like my son when he was a baby. He would take a bottle till he overflowed. I have not had that occur with a pet.

This one is like a baby. When he figures out he is not getting any more food he goes to sleep.

One of the first signs of unsatisfied appetite is diabetes, and that's something that really should not be waited on for long. I recommend getting him to the vet for a complete and thorough checkup to rule out any cause for concern for that and for any other issues he may have. Your cat should not eat until he throws up, and then want to eat again. It's better to be safe than sorry by getting him an appointment with your vet.

He doesn't act sick or anything, just hungry.

Seems like he may be depressed, my cat otis did the same thing one time and it was cause he was lonely and tired of being locked in the house, after we fenced the backyard he was back to his normal self again, chasing birds and squirels and napping on the patio

Thanks Michael. Willy has always been like this even when he was a tiny kitten. He is an indoor/outdoor cat too. We don't keep him in a lot unless the weather is bad.
