The Fiesta

Fiesta is the thanksgiving day in honor of the patron saint of a place here in the Philippines , usually in the provinces .
A mass concelebrated by many priests is done in the morning of the fiesta . And of course the highlight is each house has prepared foods for their guests .
I have written about the day before our fiesta earlier , which was August 29 . The fiesta was the next day 30th .
At home , the foods prepared were all done out of love of my 3 sisters , brother-in-law and a nephew , of course with the help of helpers we hired for the occasion and by the caretakers of our lots .
Each of them made their specialties . The result , lots of foods .
Though , this year no "lechon" , because since father's leg was amputated , last year , he vowed not to buy it anymore for special occasions . But sometimes , my nephews would buy one , if it is their occasion we are celebrating like when their kid was christened .
However even without lechon , as you can see there were lots of foods prepared .
Take your pick guys !

Here , Filipinos would have foods for every occasion they would like to celebrate like a promotion , a raise in salary or whatever .
Yes, you should move here and go to places where there are fiestas because the foods are a plenty and free for everyone who would like to greet the owner , a Happy Fiesta .

I can see the calderetta and lumpia ( spring rolls) wow my favorite. Fiesta is fast approaching our place but we do not celebrate it cause we are not catholic so I just celebrate it on other people's houses

Yes, the calderetta was delicious And of course the spring roll . But iprefer it as fresh lumpia , but this time mysister didn't make them .
You mean you don't celebrate it just because you are of different religiOn?
But at least you get to partake of the foods prepared by your relatives. and friends .

@SIMPLYD Christians do not celebrate it in our houses and we do not go to mass either, only church service, but I know these things, because I studied in Catholic schools and partly raised by my aunts who were catholic.
Yes we go to houses of people who invite us or who tell is to drop by during casual conversations a few months, weeks or days advance amd quite a lot ask us to drop by

Really , you also have lechon or roasted pig in India . Indeed it is expensive , because it's a whole pig that is roasted .
But , it is indeed so delicious specially if the skin is so crispy .

I was looking for lechon in the photo. Good thing you explain it well. Hahaha. You know, for me the celebration would not be completed without lechon. Anyway, I love the food.

It's good you still observed the tradition of the family with the help of hired hands cooking the food themselves for the fiesta. It's a labor of love. In our place, the practice is shifting to have a food caterer do the preparation and even the serving. The excitement is almost gone. I remember my childhood when relatives of my aunts would come over from another town to help in the cooking the day before the fiesta.

That is true . My sisters would still like to cook . Maybe they want to hear the praises of the guests that they are delicious .
Our relativeas. don't come because before the fiesta to help because they also have their fiesta . It's the caretakers that always come .
So., on the bisperas night ,we have "dinuguan" and chicharon bulaklak for dinner . Yummy!
