Although I agree that women are free to wear whatever they want, the reason here is that France is a lay country and might ban any ostentatious sign of religion in public. There is another reason here, which led France to ban burkas years ago : burkinis and burkas are said to infringed women's rights : why a woman would wear a burka or a burkini and not her husband ? Women are not submitted to men in France.

Something that came from a non-demcratic country has no place to be enforced in a democratic one not unless majority wants it, that is how our system in the freeworld works, the same way is true when we go to a country that enforces it then our citizens abide, Filipinas working in the ME wear it because they wamt to abide by the law.

@louievill Personally, I was divided for burkas, which is a traditional clothing for some women, but it is not the case for burkinis : they were not here 3 years ago, and I think that they are pure provocation from radical Muslims. I can also hardly believe that a woman wants to wear by herself something like this on a beach. If they are too chaste to not show their shoulders, they should not got to beaches where they can see topless women. But they can wear a burkini in their own bathtub if they want
. A city by law forbidding the burkini has been invalidated by our supreme Court, but they were just deciding on one case among 30 others, and they said how such local laws might be valid. Anyways, I am favorable to a new law to forbid burkinis in all France. A poll made here revealed that only 6% of people were favorable to burkinis ! It is opposite to our conception of freedom and human dignity.

@topffer you are very right, a body composed of a few people could easily be imtimidated and terrorized and we have seen what these people are capable of doing, a national referendum is one way but too expensive and outcome is already obvious.
These people should do their thing in their own country and we will obey when we are there but they should also obey the wishes and laws of the land that had been kind enough to adopt them.
Right if they want to their thing then let them do it in the privacy and comfort of their own room or bath room![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

A state has all the rights to enforce laws that it thinks is beneficial for the welfare of citzens as well as security, it's a democracy so most likely it's what majority wants, not just burkini but all things else and I would like to assume without prejudice. If it enforces something then everyone that wants to live there must abide to what is lawful unless otherwise repealed.
