Thanks. I've been waiting for fall weather so I can start walking outside again.

I'm beyond 50 and I only need to lose about 5 or 6 pounds, but why is it so difficult?! Our metabolism slows as we age, so exercise is the key along with portion control.
Easier said than done.

Yes it is easier said than done! I'd much rather sit and post on MyLot than do a workout on my stepper machine. But exercise is going to be required to take off this weight. We have to keep building up muscle tone after 50 or it goes away.

I have friends that take a tsp. of cinammon and add a tsp of honey and take it off the spoon like you are taking medicine it is suppose to help boost your metabolism and help you loose weight. It worked for them.

@clrumfelt I agree with you on rather sitting here and posting on my lot instead of working out. I have these workout dvd's called walk away the pounds by Leslie Sansone they are awesome they work I was losing weight doing them I need to get back at them.

I am only 30 and already struggling to get rid of my flabs. People always mistake me for pregnant. Nothing against pregnant women but it's just embarrassing to be mistaken for one when I'm not - knowing it's because of my flabs.
There are many fad diets out there. But I don't buy them. I find that switching to a diet richer in veggies have helped in the past. But the moment I have meat again, I just cave in and so put on the weight again.
They say weight loss is 90% diet, adn 10% exercise. But with me, I lost weight before by really exerting more effort towards exercise.

Exercise is the best way because muscle burns the most calories and the exercise helps strengthen the heart and guard against osteoporosis. It takes a lot of willpower for me to exercise consistently.

I think I will be motivated to get out and walk when fall weather comes because this summer heat has had me stuck inside for so long.

@clrumfelt Ugh same here, @clrumfelt But now that it's springtime I should be able to do more outdoor exercises. I hope it's sunny most days. :)

I know what you are talking about I am 44 and have a hard time losing and keeping it off or even losing at all. Sometimes my weight stays the same for a long time no matter what I do.But I agree with what other people are saying portion control and more water intake and walking.

Thanks. Losing weight sounds so simple, yet is so hard to do consistently.

It's as difficult for some people to gain weight as it is for others to lose it. I have never had a problem with gaining, it's the losing I don't do so well.

Me to. Like you I am waiting for it to cool down so I can start walking again. Plus I need to cut back on my sodas and to much sugar in my coffee. I bet if I did that I would lose some. I lost weight years back just by doing those things and cutting back on my size portions. But now seems I am always hungry, need to find something that will help with that.

I hardly ever drink sugary drinks unless at a restaurant that doesn't offer anything other drinks I like. Sticking to healthy snacks would probably help me a lot but there is always too much junk food around and it's just too easy to go for that.

I'm in the same boat. It is much more difficult to shed pounds as you become older. The old standards of exercise and watching your diet works best.

I need to drop ten or fifteen myself. What usually works for me is to cut down portion sizes and half hour of exercise every day. I am not disciplined when it comes to exercise at all. But I've been thinking about doing nutrisystem again and starting over trying to get better habits to become my routine.I lost twenty when I used Nutrisystem and did fine after that for quite awhile. But I've gained ten back. Because of the not exercising thing. But my advice to YOU is exercise and cut portions. heh heh
