As I am typing this, our new air conditioning unit is being installed. A week late but at least by late this afternoon it will be done and paid for. We were a whole week without the A/C and unfortunately, it was a very hot one. Did not like it one bit. This year has been a rough year for the house, we also needed a ne furnace last December. I hope that 2017 will more clement to us. Any big expenses for your house this year?

@marlina glad you got the new AC. We haven't even had it a year yet and our water heater just went on the fritz. With the autumn coming we are back to a cold water house. I have no idea what we're going to do.

I hope that 2017 is a better year for you too. I live in a Section 8 apartment. They had to replace the heating unit in the oven, the drum in the washer and do some fumigating do to beetles this year. But we have lived here for almost twenty years with out a replacement until now. Pretty good I'd say.

Not for the house, but for the car. I needed new tires in July and now I'm needing more work done on it.

@marlina No they don't, but hopefully soon. My friend's significant other found the reason for the check engine light always being on, so I'll be taking the car back one more time, though this time it shouldn't be expensive. One of the wires to the spark plug had worn almost bare from contact with the fan.

Crossing my fingers that we have no must haves as we have no money for it. There are things that need to be done such as some re-wiring but it just has to not be done as we can't afford to hire someone to do it.

It was like a torture to have no aircon with hot weather. Good you finally got a new one! I've been doing some home fixing and decorations but no big expenses so far.

Ugh, I'm sorry you had to go a week without AC. That can be brutal during the very hot weather. So far things have been pretty stable here finance wise. Last year we had a large car repair, but this year so far so good!

Sorry to hear about you having to get a new a/c. They really can be expensive. Now that you have a new furnace and a new a/c, hopefully you are set for 2017.

bless yer heart, i bet'cha nearly melted :( i'd 've a big 'xpense this year if'n the hubs 'd finish the front 'f the house...'r put the windows'n. but, since he didn't do any 'f those thingies, we've paid the price with outrageous heatin'/coolin' bills - whilst still bein' either cold (last winter) 'r hot (this summer). he jest makes my head hurt. the year prior we'd the need to 've our well pulled, 100' 'f new pipe laid 'n a new pump. that hurt, lol.

I remember when you put in your new furnace. We went thru that in June 2015, when our hot water heater went and the technician that we had out advised us that the vent collapsed. So based on the fact that both the hot water heater as well as the gas furnace rely on that, my husband had a state of the art tankless eco system-both to heat the house as a furnace as well as hot water. We haven't really had to make any major repairs since then, and hope we won't going forward.
