Not much action on September 2 so I included September 3 September 2 1965 – The Beatles came out with “Yesterday”. 1989 – Paula Abdul has a number one hit with “Cold Hearted”. September 3 1966 – Donovan come out with his only number one U.S. hit “Sunshine Superman”. That same year The Happenings had a hit with “See You In September”. Also Question Mark and The Mysterians score a number one hit with “96 Tears”. 1977 – Even after his death Elvis records were going like hot cakes in the U.K. He had a number one album with “Moody Blue” and a number one single with “Way Down”. 1981 – A group called Soft Cell have a number one hit in the U.K. with “Tainted Love”. http://www.classicbands.com/day/september%202.html http://www.classicbands.com/day/september%203.html
Sue Lyon came into Donovan's life at the end of 1965. This was two or three years before he met his "Jennifer Juniper" (Jenny Boyd). Lyon had starred in "Lol...

@RasmaSandra It's not my age (I doubt that you're older than me :-)), but the fact that I didn't grow up in the USA. Not all American hits made it across the Atlantic.

@MALUSE you are right there. I have a music blog so I am constantly checking out all kinds of music that's why it seems I know so many different types. I came into the world at the end of the 1950s and my childhood was in the 1960s. I always felt frustrated when I discovered rock and roll that I had missed the 1950s and I was to young to be part of the hippie generation in the 1960s. So the best I could do was to learn as much as I could about the music I had missed. I guess if you lived in the UK you would probably know more about both American and British rock. I have heard rock songs in German here on the radio and I enjoy them as well. We have a radio station that plays songs in various languages.

You get kudos for a Sue Lyon reference. "Lolita" has become a long forgotten actress.
