I have been sorting through photos and came across this one of a garden installation. It is situated outside one of the buildings at the University of Western Australia. I'd like to say it was the engineering building but I'm not sure. It was a year or two ago.
I wouldn't have thought something like a simple nut could be so attractive. Have you come across sculptures or installations of objects not usually associated with such works of art? And isn't that a lovely looking tree trunk at the side?

I love that sculpture! It's is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while! Wish I had that near where I live so I could go get a photo of me standing in front of it!

@JudyEv Are you saying that if I stood in front of that sculpture to have my photo taken it would detract from the beauty of the sculpture? LOL

@moffittjc You're very quick to jump to conclusions! Did I say that you would spoil the sculpture?

@allknowing It's of no importance. My husband always corrects me if I get it wrong so now I do it just to nark him.

@IlijaMarkovski Sometimes they don't seem attractive at first but you get more used to it over time. :)

I would love to see it from afar and how it looks with the rest of the trees and bushes around it ..
I have seen some sculptures and other garden works of arts popping up around Melbourne lately.. One really needs to see all the angles to appreciate them more ..

@AliCanary That sounds like a good explanation, thank you.

Aluminum would probably be the most practical, so that's my guess. It looks like someone took a section of municipal-sized drain tubing (that part may be steel, as it's usually buried and would need to be strong) and then used sheet metal to build the rest around it.

@hereandthere Could be. Or a space ship breaking up and dropping bits along the way.

That is strange. I like that tree beside it though.

I wonder if that is the world's largest nut?

It may not be as there are some huge buildings and bridges in the world which quite possibly use even more massive nuts.

I'd guess it was the engineering building too. Unusual and interesting.

That is great - does the garden carry a warning sign saying 'may contain nuts?'

i wonder if you're allowed to sit inside, or would it be too hot? or too cold in the winter?
