If your life will be adapted into a movie/ Tv show, would you allow the Producer to add fictional moments or alter some events?

I remember Eddie Huang is upset with the Season 2 of the Sitcom "fresh off the boat" which was his Autobiography because they added too much fictional episodes and the depressing moments of his life were not included on the show because it is a comedy and not a drama. I remember the 90's True to life story Movie, "Dangerous minds, starring Michelle Pfeifer which is about a US Marine turned teacher named Louanne Johnson. She inspired her Delinquent Youth students to study hard and graduate her life is not so dramatic so the producers decided to kill off one of her students even though he is alive on real life so the movie will have drama. The depressing award winning Anime movie that I will review later titled "Grave of the Fireflies" is about a teenage boy and his toddler little sister who lost their parents during world war 2. I swear, if you want to cry, watch this movie. On this movie Both of the siblings die so they can be together in heaven. In real life the brother survived and lived a life of depression for losing his sister. I think he wanted this ending because he missed his little sister who died of starvation because Japan was a mess after the USA bombed it. The real life brother died just last year. If your life will be adapted into a movie or a TV series, Would you allow producers to do alterations? Who is the actor you would choose to play you? In My case I may allow them to exaggerate moments but I won't allow fiction.

If they paid me enough money I'd allow them to do whatever the hell they wanted

Even if they want to add a plot where you have an affair with someone from tumblr with invented gender. (seriously why does tumblr invent genders) Who will play you? Jason Statham ,Vin Diesel or Someone with hair?

I would be torn about that. For me, my life story would have to be true to my life . . . otherwise, what's the point, right? I know there is such a thing as creative license just to make the story "better" - but sheesh - if someone has to make up stuff to make my life seen more interesting, well then, it's not really about "me" anymore. But then again, I don't think I have to worry about anyone wanting to make a life movie about me .

@CaptAlbertWhisker I just thought about it. I don't think anyone I know could ever write an biography of me - and I don't think I would spill everything in an autobiography. I am certain my movie would be very inaccurate . I have to look up what parts of Erin Brocovich was made up stuff. I could say I have a lot of depressing stuff too - but it probably wouldn't interest the world - that in itself is depressing .

I think the most accurate "true to life" Movie is "Erin Brocovich" starring Julia Roberts but they still added some minor fakes to add drama. The Real life Erin though said the movie is 98 percent accurate. I think I will just compile all the depressing moments of my life for it to be good enough to be a movie. They wont need to add fiction at all. My whole life will be a boring tv series though because the depressing parts are years apart.

@much2say I want to have an autobiography when I am close to dying. Spilling my dark secrets wont cause me any harm since I am close to dying and I have nothing to lose. but on the other hand, Sharing it earlier means a lifetime of royalties.....

I would allow it, but I'd want to see each addition for my approval before it was added. I'd probably need some embellishments for it to be an interesting show.

I think in my case as long as it wont ruin my dignity I may let it pass. I do not mind them showing my negative aspects but I do not want to look evil.

Coming from India, where they will add songs and dances to almost every movie they make, well, I think I do not have too many choices In real life, I am nowhere a good singer ... barring sometimes in the shower and dancer? I can never be one That said, on a serious note, I think I would have to agree with @Mike197602, it would depend on how much would I be paid. And I assume, you are not talking of movies that premier and stay only on YouTube.

I had watched a horror Bollywood movie before and I never expected to see a song and dance number but I saw a song and dance number. I notice Tamil movies are more serious. there is less dancing and stuff. A Hollywood movie is actually a possibility with All the Indian actors in Hollywood now like dev Patel, Shuraj Shaqrma, Naveen Andrew and many more.

They would have to add to my life because my life is boring. I have seen a few interesting things but not many.

If the movie's genre is "slice of life" instead of drama, they wont be a need for conflicts as long as the actors are good.

No, I wouldn´t want the producer to change anything. Either they make my life a movie or not, I won´t let it change. Even if a huge money is involve. It´s still my life being filmed.

@thelme55 Also most of the dialogues are fictional because there is no way a person can remember their conversations word per word.

@CaptAlbertWhisker yes, that's true. The producer just add fictional event and persons to make the movie adventurous and interesting.

If the changes is not what would demean me as a person , but uplift me , then why not ? But then , it's already not my real life story after all.

I think as long as it has the major events, minor changes might be harmless.

Just like that movie from Denzel washington about stopping a driver less train, the real story is not so exciting after all.

They may add fiction, drama or comedy so long it maintains the overall picture of my life. If the whole scenario or theme changes because of that, then I'll object! I'd like a fresh face to portray me. Also, I didn't know that Grave of the Fireflies was based on real life. I cried so hard after watching it, maybe the only time I cried so hard was while watching Hachiko. It's sad that the man survived this long dealing with his sister's loss.

@CaptAlbertWhisker yes, the dying is better than decades of suffering and insurmountable guilt.
