I found this book somewhere. It is about a little pony that was left in the barn by her owner during Hurricane Katrina. She survived on a pile of hay that had been left in a corner of the nearly collapsed barn. She was lucky to have been found and given a home in a animal sanctuary. She was happy to wile aways her days until one day a rabid crazed pit bull attacked her and chewed one of her legs off. Her leg had to be amputated and she was given a new limb and began a career as a therapy animal. She visited injured children and adults in the hospital. Written by Pam Kaster in 2008 this book examines the true life story of this sweet little 8 year old pony. The author won the ASPCA's True Story Award in 2008 and also wrote “Zydeco Goes to Horse Camp".
