Welcome to this weekend’s Suddendeath poetry challenge, Fall?! Anyways, rules are as follows, write a poem in any style using the five words that I give you. Write it in one sitting or in under an hour (only to quash your inner editor, rules are loose there). Add it here, OR link in a comment so we can enjoy each other’s poems. The words can be in any plurality or tense. Today’s words are: brisk, change, harvest, moon, pumpkin
My entry is below:
I woke this morning to find the world oddly still.
The temperature had changed last night turning briskly chill.
Hooray for harvesting done, under the light of the moon.
Hooray for the taste of pumpkin pie, eaten with a spoon.
My favorite season lasts nowhere near long enough,
Summer in Texas is the season that lingers, the season that is rough.
So while I have it, I will dance and shout
For I really think Fall just might be about!!!!!

Its time to fashion a dumpy scarecrow
not a moment too soon as my mind moons over fleeting summered wasps.
Sweep the landscape clean briskly!
I tell the Canada geese as they wing over
Work hard me laddies, change is coming apace,
pumpkins blushing orange,
frost about to reign the nights
I welcome you my handsome gents
though I dread the fearsome cold.

Here is a 4 short on
I never get to see the moon
I get to bed pretty soon,
Fall is not we see it here
But we see the skies quite clear
October is the time to harvest
When paddy is at its best
Change in season will be quite brisk
Planting pumpkins would be a risk

The calendar turned to September 1,
a sign in McD's window changed overnight to Pumpkin Spice latte.
Moon was obscured by rain clouds,
morning dawned, brisk with promise of colder days ahead.
Acres of grapes hang low on vines in the valley, begging for harvest.
A breeze of change, not yet a wind, ruffles the wheat in fields near town.
