It's been a blast here in the state finals. We have a great turnout...and I'm doing poorly. That's okay, I'm having a great time. I spend my summers with these guys and they're like my brothers. I'm watching them do a fantasy draft while I give you another song that you may not know was a cover. #4: R-E-S-P-E-C-T 'Retha! The Queen of Soul! If you ask me, she stole the show in The Blues Brothers with her stunning rendition of "Think." And this is another one of her classic, signature songs. When you think of Aretha Franklin, you think of this song. And yep, it's a cover. And, like yesterday's song, it was written and originally done by a man. But oh, what a man. Otis! In 1965 the great Otis Redding wrote and recorded this song. Two years later, he and most of the members of his band, the Bar-Kays, were killed in a plane crash. His big hit, "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay" came out shortly after his death. And it was in 1967 that Aretha Franklin released her version for the ages. Sockittome, sockittome..... WHAT?! ARETHA FRANKLIN'S ICONIC NUMBER WAS A COVER!?! AND OF AN OTIS REDDING SONG?! *Mind Blown* I grew up listening to these two on the Jazz station in the 90s and I had no idea... I---I--- EVERYTHING I KNOW IS A LIE!!!! Dx

Good song. The one by Otis that is my all time fav and, one I always like to have on my summer list of must hears, is Setting On The Dock Of The Bay. Love that one!
