#9 in my Favorite "Car"Songs series (basically, anything "car" related) belongs to England's New Model Army, and their song "125 M.P.H."
Led by vocalist/guitarist Justin Sullivan (the group's only constant,) New Model Army formed in Bradford, England in 1980, and have been, albeit with numerous lineup changes, at it ever since.
The post-punk band made their name through songs of protest, class struggle, and small town England.
"125 M.P.H." was first made available on the cassette version of their landmark 1989 album Thunder and Consolation. It's full of the joy a youth experiences while driving home at 125 ("close my eyes and count to ten, haha, I'm still alive,") and none of the possible drawbacks ("you can die before you get old, but me, I'm gonna live forever.")
Admit it. You opened it up at least once when you were young!

Sadly, neither have I. Perhaps it's for the better.

I vaguely recall New Model Army. You have this car song thing going and now Hot Rod Lincoln is running through (or should I say gunning) my head.

It was on the list but did not make the cut if you want to use it.

I don't know if it is car related or not but audioslave's "show me how to live" is a great track to play on a road trip.
