Care To Come With Me On Our Norwegian Cruise?

Norway is a beautiful country, and a wonderful way to see it is by cruising along the fjords.
A couple of years ago my husband and I, together with our son and his wife, did just that. I've used several of the photos on my posts here, and some of you have been interested so I thought I'd do a post about it, complete with a slideshow.
We boarded the ship in England, thus saving all the airport hassle - that was a bonus to start with. The trip was for 10 days, and the first and last days were spent at sea. In between we visited a different Norwegian port each day, and we found the people to be delightful and friendly.
Everything seemed so neat and clean, though things were very expensive. For instance, a beer cost the equivalent of about £9 ($12 US). One day we were sitting outside a cafe, and my son was not amused when a seagull dropped it's load into his freshly purchased beer!
Food was similarly expensive, but fortunately we didn't need to buy any as we were so well fed on the ship.
One of the things we learned on this trip was that the Vikings never had horns on their helmets - that's pure Hollywood! We also learned that they can have beautiful weather that far North - apparently it was the best weather they'd had for years - how lucky were we
If you ever get the chance to take a cruise like this I would thoroughly recommend it - we all had a wonderful time.
All the photos in the slideshow were taken by me, as is the one on the post.

I enjoyed the slideshow Janet, what a beautiful landscape, so clear and green. It would be difficult for us to board the Ship in Switzerland . Today, while going by car to Milan to see my Mother, we saw a big bus of the MSC Cruises Lines bringing people from Switzerland to Genoa. When ma husband passed the bus, I noticed that the driver was texting using a cellphone and he did not even watched the road. I took a photo, I think I am going to send the photo to the company.

What a reckless driver, please send the photo to the company. If more people did this, texting on the wheel will reduce.
It`S one thing to text when he`S driving alone, but texting while people are in the bus, putting them all in danger is irresponsible.

@jaboUK So I think I need to get to the categories. For some reason I'm not getting a preview until the very end so the music is a bit hit and miss but if I can get to categories I'd have a better chance of choosing something more appropriate.

@miniam I said that we visited a different port each day, but they weren't really ports. They were villages, as you say. Some of them probably only had a few hundred inhabitants, so a cruise ship disgorging 2000 money-spending passengers would really help their economy.
I can see the resemblance to Switzerland (I was there in my youth).

Wow, that was a nice slideshow of your Norwegian cruise . From the slideshow , i can really see that Norway has a perfect weather , sunny yet cold . I love that kind of weather .
What is the majority of the occupation of the Norwegians , by thje way ?

@jaboUK Oh so it's not really always like that . Well, what can you expect the weather , but it changes as fast as a woman changes her mind.
That's okay , i thought there is an occupation where most are like when they are near the sea , most will be fishermen .

@JohnRoberts The fjords can stretch for 60 miles inland, so they are calm as they are well away from the open sea.

Wow, that is so kool .... the silly things Hollywood does to try to thrill their viewers, I'm glad you mentioned that fable about the horns, I'd actually believed that myth.
Oh, by the way, thanks for that little bit of vacation, I can see I retired in the wrong place. Oh well, too late now, I'd never get used to a real winter.

Never been on a cruise - and never will since I don't/won't fly. It would take some kind of 'magic' to get me on a plane to fly to the ship LOL. I'll enjoy yours instead.

@garymarsh6 Thanks for coming back Gary - yes, serene is the word for it. Relaxing too - sitting on the deck you felt you could almost touch the mountains on either side.
