Running a Fever

Many people do not realize that running a fever is actually a good sign. It seems that a mildly elevated temperature causes your white blood cells to fight infection better.
I bought a new thermometer today. I have run a slight fever off and on all afternoon. I will take a fever reducer when I go to bed, though, as well as some medicine to help my cough.
I feel like it is time to clean up and go to bed. See ya tomorrow.

@GardenGerty I am joking about Vodka, I do not drink either. However I will mix up some honey lemon and vodka to break up an adult cold, My mom gave it to us when we were little but I don`t believe in that.
I have had the same tiny bottle for 6 years!

Out of curiosity, why are you taking a fever reducer when you just said a fever helps you fight off infection? ;)

I am only taking it at bed time, so I can sleep. The fever makes my cough worse and I need to sleep. During the day hours I just drink lots of fluids and such to deal with the fever. Herbal teas and fruit juices help a lot.

Heather, I remember you from Chatabout! Hello!
I hope you're feeling better... even though I know fevers serve a purpose, I hate having one. I hate feeling sick in general and just want to be as comfortable as possible until it's over.

I am glad to see you here, Kelli and I hate being sick. I turn into such a baby. I am fortunate that I usually heal quickly. I am trying to do the right thing and get extra rest to help speed up the process.

Yes, it is. I am not one to knock it out as soon as it shows. I do let it be a cue to drink more fluids.

Almost always, when I get sick or run a fever, I purposely avoid medicines so that my body can do what it was designed to do to fight off viruses and infections. I only resort to medicines as a last resort; otherwise, I let that fever run its course!

This is something I considered as an added knowledge power. Growing old I never considered fever is a good sign. All I know that having it will freeze all physical activities so I don't want to have it. Now I know that something good can be brought by it. Thank you.
