Spring has sprung down here and I notice flowers are starting to bloom in my yard... There are some wild flowers that I'm not sure of the name - but they are white small flowers look similar to the one on my plate (with purple-ish center instead of pink though) - and for some reasons they inspire me to arrange my pancakes as such...
Pancakes were my father's favorite breakfast along with scrambled eggs... And Sunday, the fourth of September was Father's Day down here... It would have been his 84th birthday as well... But for the past 26+ years we could only remember his birthdays through prayers and wonderful memories of him... *Love you Dad!*

Thank you! Our dads are about the same age, aren't they? My best friend's dad is about the same age as my dad too - in fact, they knew each other when my dad was still alive - now I often look at my friend's dad and imagine my own dad at this age...

@TheHorse I remember you wrote about your auntie in NY... I imagine you'd see a bit of your parents in her... Is she your dad's or your mom's sister? My dad was an only child, he never had a son, and now we often wonder who among his grandsons would take after him at all...

Last time I ate pancakes was yesterday and it was a good lunch, I didn't eat it in breakfast.

@enlightenedpsych2 Hmm, yours sound so good... I just made plain ones and we each ate them however way we chose... With butter, or maple syrup, or banana slices...

@sishy7 Well maybe because the boys are all older now . . . littler ones might be more into that (we are still into funky shaped pancakes . . . guessing what they look like and such ). How did you get it so even colored? Ours look kinda giraffe patterned !

@sishy7 Even as a kid I always hated them. My children do love pancakes! That's one of their favorite breakfast choices.

@ramapo17 My mom and my sister were with him all the way. They said he seemed like he was looking for me at first, then a very close family friend who was my age and had a similar body structure to me came to his bedside to hold his hands. He became very calm and peaceful like he was sleeping... and not very long after he passed away. Everyone who was there at the time believed he was waiting for me...

Enjoy the new season and do what I do when you miss your dad or just want to feel close to him, talk to him. I do it all the time and especially when I am on the computer. We were back and forth on computers almost every night when it was near his end and we enjoyed every minute of it. We lived almost 2 hours away from each other until 6 months before he passed.
I still talk to him a lot and many times I feel him next to me. He was 93 when he passed 3 years ago.

@magallon Oh, I see... Your children were very young when they lost their father, weren't they? My dad was really closed to my sister, and their birthdays are a week apart - next Sunday will be my sister's birthday, right on 9/11, which of course since 2001 became a significant date...
