What do You Say When You've Been Insulted?

What do you say when you've been insulted? Do you remain silent? Do you respond with returning the insult with anger? Do you insult the person back? Do you feel hurt, upset, and miserable? How do you feel? I believe that it depends on the circumstances. Is the insult all about you? Is the insult directed more toward something that you did? Think seriously before you respond to an insult, but do not let it go unchallenged.

It does depend on the circumstance, I agree with that. Sometimes I take things too personally-I know this about myself. I am very sensitive and emotional. So, I usually stay quiet, walk away and cry. Then I will come here and vent about it. Lol. It helps to write about it here.

Well, sometimes it's more about the mood of the person who hurled the insult.I'd try to talk to them about it.

That can work. Every situation is different. One type of response definitely does not fit all.

I don't get insulted that often. Wait, I'm insulted if I'm talking (or playing music) and someone is only half-listening. Or poking at their cell phone. If someone tried to insult me directly, I might say nothing, or perhaps "God bless you, Sir." But it would sting inside. If someone texts or becomes distracted while I'm talking, I might say, "Oh I can wait." But that's kind of passive-aggressive.

If the type of insult uttered is something not tolerated by our laws, then I'll file a case and claim damages against that person to teach him/her a lesson.

That would work as long as you have a witness to the insult.

I do not believe in judging and take almost everything positively. I never believe in returning back the insult.
I have lots of other things to handle in my daily life and I have realized that life is too short to keep grudges and retaliate. Staying positive and peaceful keeps much of stress away from me.
