A strange creature in my kitchen last night!

I woke up at about 2 AM last night. I had been dreaming about food and was hungry. When I went into my kitchen, I spied this strange critter staring angrily at me. It seemed to be hiding behind my Trader Joe's Honey Nut O's. It never hissed, and it never struck at me. It just stared its evil stare. I decided I'd better get out of there, and went back to bed. I never saw its body. Now, I'm wondering if it was just a dream. When I awoke this morning, it was gone. Have you ever had anything like this in your kitchen?

This sounds like a TKM, which is the common name for a Trans-dimensional Kitchen Monster. They slip through a gateway from the other side and have fun scaring people, then quickly return back to their home in Limbo.

@TheHorse The sightings have become more prolific these days because I believe that the younger generation TKMs are more amused by our reactions to them. As for the Honey Nut Os, that just confirms that it was a TKM because they are notorious for such stunts as stealing the holes out of cereals. They do this to torment their targets more and confuse them.

@Asylum But wait. There are doughnut holes in my kitchen right now. I never buy doughnut holes. What does this mean? Now I'm hoping it was just a dream.

Aha! That explains why it was gone in the morning. Are TKM sightings becoming more...common? Dang it, I'm hungry but my Honey Nut O's just don't look quite the same this morning.

You disturbed a kitchen troll. Don't worry, they only come out at night, and they are more afraid of you than you are of them.

Heh. Famous last words! "More afraid of you..." I tried to find the South Park episode where the snake eats the guide as he's telling that to our boys, but I couldn't...

I think the snake would have woken me and there was no way I could go back to bed without getting rid of it first. You are brave!

It is unlikely to be a snake because the only ones to enter a kitchen would be adders. It was clearly not an adder or it would have been carrying an abacus.

@TheHorse Whether it was a snake , a TDKM or a spoiled avocado, I still think that I wouldn't have been able to go back to bed without doing something about it. I still think you are a brave man to have been able to go back to bed. You are a true hero!

I'm working with the hypothesis that it's not a snake, but a Trans-dimensional Kitchen Monster. See @Asylum's comment below. Be sure NOT to read @vandana7's comment, as it is much too firmly rooted in good powers of observation, rational thinking, and common sense, things that I don't really understand.

I wouldn't do that, would I? I'm going with @Asylum's TKM explanation. It seems the most common sense. @vandana7's is too far-fetched, as I don't keep spoiled things in my house. My nose is too sensitive.

@nanette64 I hadn't known about TKMs. But little kids know about TBMs. They tend to hide under the bed.

I think it may have been a TKM, as @Asylum suggested. But @cindiowens may be right as well.

I don't think it was a dream because you got a picture of it. If you have had little ones around, maybe one of them left a Halloween mask back there to try and frighten you. If not I'd call the Orkin man today and show him the pic!

I think I'm going with the TKM explanation. Or maybe it was a troll, disguised as a lizard of some sort. If I called the Orkin man, I'm worried they'd have me hauled off for 72 hours of observation.

Hi, @TheHorse Same here. It looks like an avocado. Is that the creature? I don't think you were able to take a pic I always notice 2 strange creatures here in our dormitory. Both of them look like a mosquito but I'm sure they're not mosquito. I always feel so scared whenever I see them. Both of them can fly but one can make itself look like a very thin black string when it's on the wall. So scary.

Are they bigger than mere mortal mosquitoes? As for my kitchen monster, @Asylum's explanation seems to fit the data best.

@TheHorse There won't be any babies. The heat of the plane, unless you send them first-class, will make hard-boiled eggs of them. and if the trip hits any turbulence they'll be scrambled!
