I have been trying few freelancing sites so I could make some extra money online.I tried upwork.com .Its working really well for me.
Last week I tried freelancing.in and It had left such a bad taste in my mouth.I got project there after lot of bidding. When I finally got project of good amount ,immediately site deducted 10% of total amount from my account.I got panic and called then to know why money was deducted from my account. They told me they charge me fee immediately after winning project.
But then cherry on top was the client who assign me work never contacted me again.Never gave me money.I contacted site once again to tell them what happen and If they could reveres my fee as I have not gotten any work and money. But they refuse.
Site told me you are going to pay fee whether you get money or not.To which I simply refuse and left site.I wonder now If its their way of scamming people. That client profile who gave me project could be fake too.
On other hand upwork has higher fee but atlist they charge fee only after you get money from client. So I am sticking with that site now.

You should never be charged a fee to do work. You are helping them. That is why they pay you. I have heard about Upwork and they are legit, but also part of the problem. They pretty much do the opposite of how capitalism is supposed to work. These guys are breaking capitalism and Adam Smith should be rolling in his grave. This is why the poor will always be poor and the rich will always be greedy.

@piya84 How do you have bad money spending habits when you have none. Not going to be a downer! If that is the case the very same people are getting poor people to spend money they do not have. Try a temp labor agency. Jobs suck the same, but they at least get you a job and take it out of your pay. Said to be corporations pay, but either way they at least make you better off than you were. My point is if you are paying them with things you do not have they win every time and they know it. To many buy these schemes that do nothing for people, but make others rich while you cannot afford to eat.

Not too much off topic: I scored below average on 2 Upwork tests. How much does that matter? Guess I should retake?

I am not sure.I see lot of members are active there.Site definitely have wrong rules to charge fees though. I am not sure If client who gave me project was fake profile or not.It is possible that it was scam or it could be he saw the way site charge money even before project start and run away himself.

Hi fellow Upworker! Aside from those you mentioned, there are a lot of hourly projects on Upwork and they have varied categories. It's easy to determine if a project is funded by checking the job post itself. It states there if payment method is verified or not. It's easy on the part of Upworkers to decline or accept interviews or job offers just by checking the payment methods. Scam is avoided.
The tests on Upwork may be taken for free unlike other freelancing sites where they charge a certain fee for tests. Lastly, one is allowed to bid 60 times for free.

I have been working there as a data entry expert but competition in that section is too high.Even project of 5 dollar are getting 50 proposals within few minutes. So I have decided to shift to other section.I have small institute next door where I am planning to take classes of photoshop also I am trying my hand in translation since I know three languages.I need to do lot of practice though as It is difficult to translate scientific words for me.
How about you?
