~Pregnancy, Doctors & Insurance~

Dealing with insurance here is not an easy task! I looked on my insurance companies website to see what OBGYN takes my insurance. There were a bunch on there that I called but they said they don't take it. Then I called my insurance company and asked them to give me some OBGYN numbers that actually take my coverage. The lady gave me 4 different numbers. I called one-they said they have never taken my coverage & they keep telling the company to take them off the list but they won't. The next number I called was disconnected-fabulous. The next one said they no longer take my coverage as of this year. Then the last one said they take a certain amount of patients with my coverage and they will call me back within a few days to let me know if they can take me or not... So...hopefully I will get in with that last one because I just feel like giving up!

I have never had this problem with our insurance, they keep their list up to date. Hope you find a doctor soon.

@BelleStarr My husband had this problem and I am having it now. We have medicaid so we aren't as important as the people with "real" insurance.

@BelleStarr Oh I could go to a health department but they have horrible hospitals that I would deliver at and I'm not willing to have another bad labor.

@LovingMyBabies I have medicare so I guess I am in the same boat. Maybe you need to talk to the state and find out what they expect you to do. We have a local healthcare facility that treats everyone. It has doctors etc.

I hope that last one will take your coverage. How far is it from your home?

That's discouraging. I thought that the idea behind health insurance was to allow for residents to keep up with good health? I hope that something opens up soon for you, and the little one.

@Juliaacv With the insurance we have we are not top priority, that's for sure. At the bottom of the totem pole... Thank you, me too!

I know all about insurance and pregnancy issues. I didn't have problems finding a doctor because I have a ppo but my deductible and uncovered labs killed us.

@farbouloxusy Yeah, it is a pain in the rear end! I actually am not sure what a PPO is?

@LovingMyBabies PPO means I can pick any doctor I want in network as for an HMO you have to have a referral from a primary doctor.

@LovingMyBabies I hope you find your doctor! It is such a pain with the catalog (the list of doctors) supposedly takes the insurance and when you call - they go "we no longer accept this insurance". Okay, understanding this catalog given is a little dated June 2015 - but I looked on the website provider along with the doctors website and its still listed. The receptionist goes oh yeah, we haven't updated it... - Well..... - Thanks right?!

@infatuatedbby Yup same thing here! They give you a list of ones that accept it-call them and they say nope we don't. What in the world?? Hopefully I will find one soon!

So frustrating! Are you using a new insurance company that is different from the one you had with your previous pregnancies?

@sishy7 Yes I had to switch insurance because NO one accepted the one I had previously. So, I changed it and now I am having the same issue anyway! So annoying. 3 of my babies I had in another state which was easy to find a doctor-this state is insane.

I think my state has a list of doctors that accept Medicaid on their site. Makes it a lot more convenient than having to call and get numbers that don't work from the state, at least. I hate how people treat people with Medicaid coverage like they're less than someone with a different insurance.

Wow I hope you get the last one, it's not fair your paying huge insurance and the hospital doesn't take them? so much injustice.

A lot of companies are backing out of Obama care. Is that what you have. I hope you are able to find something you need to go to a Doctor.

Yes, it's hard to find doctors that take medicaid anymore. They Just Don't Like Dealing With Them because they don't get paid. Its sad because medicaid is the last option for a lot of people because they can't afford to get other insurance. I have tried to get on the past, but was denied. I hope you find one.

It does make me happy that I never had to deal with insurance during my pregnancies. It's all covered by our Medicare. Which does help.

I live in Cleveland, and as of now I don't even have insurance. My job does offer it but it would be half my pay check every two weeks so I just pay outta pocket for now it's crazy
