Birthday of the Virgin Mary

On September 8, Catholics observe the birthday of the Virgin Mary. I just wondered if the Virgin Mary was once a human being, because she has a birthday like other people do. This just came to my mind after waking up this morning and realized it is a holiday because of Virgin Mary's birthday. According to the Books, Virgin Mary's mother was St. Anne, of David's house and line. So the Virgin Mary was once a real human being. What are your thoughts on this?

I think Mother Mary was once a human being but it's only this year that I know that it was her birthday on the 8th of this month. Anyway it's not all true what is written in the bible.

I agree, and I am wondering if they are like historians who had written what had really happened during those times. Just my thought.

@acelawrites Yes, they were like historians. I am fond of watching history about everything especially about the Catholic churches, the life of Jesus and the popes in the olden days. Some popes were even murderers just to have the power retained in his family. They were having wives, too. Just imagine that.

Well, I think nobody knows the exact birthdate of the Blessed Virgin Mary. But according to the bible she's the human mother of our Lord Jesus Christ; so she was born by her mother, but we don't know when she was born. September 8 is the birthday of one of our 3 daughters-in-law. We greeted her early this morning.

It was taught in our religion class in my elementary days that she's human . Also the bible says that she is human but was chosen by God to give birth to Jesus .

She is a human being there is no question that she is. The only difference is that as Catholics we believe she was born without original sin which makes her unique. She also was chosen to be the mother of God so that makes her special . It was her lack of sin that led to her Assumption since it is sin that corrupts the body. Jesus on the other hand is both man and God since he is the son of God the Father and Mary.

The Virgin Mary was really a human being. That is why Jesus became man because He was born from a human being.

That is why She is honored because of Her being the Mother of Jesus Christ.

It's not really September 8 it. Church leaders just pick it because it is 9 months away starting from December 8

I don't know the dates; what is important is we respect Her as the Mother of Jesus Christ.

I think the dates outside the bible will always be disputed.

People believe anything the church tells them .. that is how they gained power over their lives ...

She was a human being, she was a Virgin but she conceived and gave birth to our God. It is said that she went to heaven with his body and soul. Meaning she didn't die when she went to heaven. That's why she was holy and called Virgin Mary.

I think you will find that all Catholics at least believe that Mary was real - as was Joseph and Jesus.
