Love at first sight, Or not....?

A friend of mine once debated with me that "love at first sight" is the true form of love, otherwise its not really love, its "planning". I was strictly against it, i told him that "love at first sight" does not exist, it is merely an infatuation which is bound to fade away with time. While otherwise, you get to know a person and know their good and bad things and yet happen to love them unconditionally. Which one of our versions of argument do you think is more valid? And which one have you experienced in your life?

Attraction is usually the first stage of love so love at first sight can lead to having true love, but it depends if the people involved wanted to work things out to go to the next level.

It takes time to get to know each other... and to discovers if that first sight was indeed love or not...

@sammyy Yes, because it may or may not happen... Not as black or white as yes or no...

Love at first sight does exist. I have known it happen (to others) on at least two occasions, both of which have led to very happy marriages. Some people are good at making accurate decisions based on first impressions (sometimes instantaneous ones) but most are not. Most people's 'first impressions' are based on and influenced by a pre-conceived 'ideal' and it is rather rare that two individuals simultaneously see their own 'ideal' in the other person AND find that the person actually meets that ideal on closer aquaintance. However, it does happen and I have witnessed it.

I'm a romantic at heart and I'm very happy to know that some of them have led to very happy marriages... And I feel people usually have quite a high standard for their preconceived ideal and that is why fail to fall in love at the first sight even if the person they find is a total gem...

If it is really love then it should not just happen because 'that guy is tall' or 'that girl has long dark hair'... It could happen even if they are short or a little plump, even if they do not have those blue eyes which were first on your checklist, even if they were...a total mismatch! Irrespective of appearances...love happens without reason..

I agree with you . Love at first sight is based on how good we find the look of a person But a true love is one that is developed over time of getting to know how beautiful the heart of the person is .

Love at first sight happened if you want to flirt only. Good look attract lots of attention. If you attracted to someone, you might be falling in love, but doesn't mean you're in love to her/him.

hmmm... something like that... romeo juliet makes it looks perfect, we kind of growing up with that illusion. I don't say that it impossible to be happened in real life, the possibility is way too tiny. beside, love at first sight is useless if you only want to jump him/her.

I agree. It is just based on looks if you say love at first sight. Maybe in a month or so, maybe you can say you love someone but at first sight I don't think so.

love is indescribable .. love cannot be determined by first look..it is developed through time.. we all have our own definitions of love..

Right! Feelings can be individual specific, and not generic all the time.

You see a beautiful face, case 1 you love because the person is beautiful and its beauty which represents prosperity so beautiful face means some one understanding and caring and so on or case 2 you love the person because you feel the connection between the two, in this case its the body vibes of the two individuals, which bring them together. In both the cases there is 50 percent chances, if we are looking for 100 percent chances then its only the blessings of the lord.
