Examination time

This is that time of the year which I dread the most. Actually it is bi-yearly. Once in September and other in March. The examination of kids in India. The stressful period for most of mothers. How?
Let me explain.
The day before the subject exam the kid opens the book reluctantly. And the moment he sets his eyes on the first chapter his face goes blank. The excuse is either he cannot understand the chapter or the chapter is quite difficult one. After much coxing in calm manner and rigidly the child starts to read.
This goes on for most of the day and when finally the day is about to end the child is ready to answer all the questions regarding the subject.
Here comes the turning point. The child who remembers the show watched a year before or the names of all characters however it may be difficult to pronounce forgets what he read in the first chapter.
Can you feel the tension that I face at that time?
The whole day gone by and one has to start afresh. It's like you typed important document and computer shuts down before you saved it.
It is not one day affair but for a fortnight or till the exams are over.

I think if you promise him something he dearly wants, he will give you the result you want to see.
Kids are like that.
Motivation is everything, since they have very short term memory of lessons learnt, but they have long term memory of all your promises.

You are right about the kid remembering all about the charactors from his favorite show
but forgetting what he studied that day.

It can seem a very long time before exams are over.
