Time

Time passes at the speed of light,
from baby to teen to adult with old age in sight.
Time wasted on the trivial things,
you miss a full moon and hearing the birds sing.
The value of time no money can buy,
each second ticks by as the hands fly.
Grasp each moment as if it was the last,
otherwise it will already be passed.
Regrets will come and go,
but that is how we grow.
Put on a happy face,
smile and feel God's grace.
Live, love, laugh and dream,
time isn't what it seems.
Here today; gone tomorrow,
do not dwell on the sorrow.
Time passes at the speed of light,
enjoy every moment and do things right.
I wish I may; I wish I might,
share this time with some insight.

Thank you so much @jaboUK . I was watching a commercial (don't remember for what) but the music and scenery in it was inspirational. I grabbed a pen and paper and this is what came out.

@jaboUK . . you are a poet to the real sense of the word; so, I am sure your sweet compliment makes @nanette64 smiling . . while my limericks made you howling coz they don't make sense . . .

@LadyDuck . . . Yeah, it was like only yesterday that I was young and restless . . . now I am old - - though feeling young still within the innermost recesses of my "vintage" heart.

@nanette64 I am so sorry to hear that about the EKG and your health issues. My Mom and her brother both had heart disease. They had to have open heart surgery. So far I have been very lucky and must take after my father's side of the family. I pray that all goes well with the stress test. Please keep us updated

@simone10 Thank you; I am a little scared. I spent 4 hours in the ER yesterday morning because I felt dizzy and nauseous. They said my BP was 150/63 and I had an oxygen level of 97%. Now how that could be I don't know. They put me on a Nebulizer and that seemed to help.

I can understand @simone10 . I just found out at the doctors when they did an EKG that I have Ischemia (the heart muscle doesn't get enough oxygen and there's not enough blood going to the heart muscle because of narrowing or blockage of 1 or more of the coronary arteries). I also have Coronary Artery Disease. I have to take a stress test on 10/4 to determine the severity of the issue. Hopefully the stress test doesn't cause a heart attack.

Well, my only regret is I have not met lots of beautiful, friendly women like you when I was still young and restless! Why?! Because all work, no play when I was young. . . . Wonderful poem!

Especially at our age @just4him . It's funny how when you're 17 time can't go fast enough and the next thing you know, you're 40. Then you jump to 60 and wish you were 17 again.

@nanette64 So true. I see those 17 year olds and wish I could move as easily as they do. Age is mean, but at least I'm doing well despite age related woes.

Your poem made me think of people I see jogging by with headphones on, totally oblivious to the sounds of a dove taking off, a cat asking them for a scratch, the wind in the trees, and an oncoming car piloted by a distracted driver. Carpe diem!

Oh exactly @TheHorse . Seize the Day. One of the things I love the most about living out in the country is the smell and the sounds. So many times I just sit on my porch and take it all in. I especially love a night with a full moon, soft breeze blowing and watching the stars.

Very clever and interesting poetry. I agree with you. Time wasted is time wasted that we will never have again...

@nanette64 That is very true. We tend to put off things and take time for granted.

Wow...your writing is amazing. And, yes, i agree, time us truly very precious for us and should not be wasted because once the time has gone it cannot be taken aback. Truly...Regrets will come and go..this is how we grow...very nicely and rightly said @nanette64
