Thanks for you Question.
Just like me,when I was studying English in school, our teacher gives us English name instead of our Chinese name, when we were in class we call each other English names.
These names should be easy to remember, also when we are going to work & want to have an English name, this reason is the first priority.such as Frank,Ann,Lisa,Jim,Tom,Jack,John,Tina,Robin etc.
Thanks

Thanks for your question.
Through common folk's perspective there are below economy(for about last 10 years) points most of Chinese agree:
1.The Chinese economy growth is fast for recent years, but now the pace is getting slower.
2.A considerable part of growth contributed by infrastructure & real estate .
3.Real estate bubble is getting worse, many people can't afford to buying their own house.
4.People's disposable income is increasing, but the rate is much slower than GDP growth.
5.Rich people becomes richer, but poors are crawling.
6.The middle class part is asending.
7.Due to labour cost getting higher & higher, many companies are suffering.
8.China‘s industries are transfering from labor intensive trend to technology-driven &capital-intensive trend, it is painful but it is must.
9.Unemployment rate is not high.find a job is easy, but a decent job is hard.
10.Price inflation a little high.
11.Most people feeling positive about the future & government control.
Hope it helps you.
Thanks.

@frank_zhang06 Thanks for your detailed reply, appreciated.
I am happy that people are positive as hope is a key ingredient for happiness in society.
China has developed so well and hope it does so more in future.
I recall President Jiang Zemin telling the most important responsibility was to clothe, feed and shelter the people. That stage is well behind now.
China has shown that disciple is the key ingredient for progress - siva

@Shiva49 China is a secularized country,we not believe in a certain person,we believe in the fact & trend which can really help us.
We normal people most care about our life quality, feeling safe, have enough money, food & public services are good, that's all.
We strive to make our country better,in return,it will make our life better.

@frank_zhang06 This I've always wondered about name use? The translation from Mandarin to English must be difficult. My computer says that Frank means [] [] - I am joking.
Did you mean name change for online?
Or when talking to English people?
Or that some Chinese people select English names for their child?

Thanks for your question.
Same as my answer to M.-L, Frank is a very common English name in China, because it is simple & easy to remember. you can also find that in Asia,as English is not the native language, most people use very simple English name for themselves.

@Bluedoll Chinese name is totally have nothing to do with English name,so you can't translate it,my Chinese name is Zhang Wenli,Zhang is my family name, this name has nothing to do with English name frank.
we select our own or child English name base on simple & easy to remember purpose, that's all.

Thanks for your question Nick.
If I got any problems, you won't see my answers here.
Actually normal folks are free to talk in China, such as corruption,Taiwan, but some media or some people have government background or some common folks cross the line of law, they may likely to have some problems.don't worry, they will not be cannoned just like in north Korean.

Thanks for your question Manisha.
Unfortunately, yes,it was by law that for last 30 years,Chinese parents only allowed to have one child otherwise they will be fined a lot of money.
After the new country has been built in 1949,the government eocouraged people to give birth more children because of the man lose during the world war II, so the population grows enormously, the result is too many people were born,if the growth continues, there will be not enough food,so government ran the one child-law,the result is for last 30 years,300 million children were not come to life.
But many family not like this law,so they continued to give birth more than one baby, but they will be fined or their children can't get all citizen rights such as personal ID.
Just like me,I am the only child of my parents. But now the gonvernment allows every family have 2 children.within 10years,India will have the largest population in the world.
Hope it helps you.
Thanks.

Is Chinese food in Chinese restaurants the same as what the Chinese eat everyday?

Thanks for your Question.
No.the local Chinese food is not same with the one which you can get in your country.
Chinese food has very big differences between different provinces in china.Hu'nan & Szechwan &Yunnan province food super spicy,Shanghai people like Sweet food,My province Zhejiang food has very light taste.
Your local Chinese restaurant's food has been localized to accommodate the native taste,to make more people like it. but the making process is same no matter in China or other countries.
Thanks.
