No matter how organized you THINK you are...

Since I moved into my apartment 5 months ago, I prided myself on being the best organized person I could be. Or so I thought! I have boxes with labels of all sorts of things, so I thought I was in good shape. However... About a month ago, I went and grabbed my hand vac to suck up cat fur that was swirling around the living room floor. Quick job. I went into the closet to a box labeled "cords" to get the charger. However, the charger was not there. Drat! Where could it be? I searched the closet, figuring it had to be in another box. Last week I went on amazon.com to order a new charger. This particular hand vac, for some bizarre reason, has different chargers for vacs made in different years. So I couldn't order one because I can't remember what year I bought it and I don't seem to have the manual. But I guess that was a good thing. Tonight, I was in the bedroom playing with my cat on the bed. I spotted a black tote bag on the floor and when I went to pick it up, I noticed two white chargers in the bag! One was for my Kindle (I've known that was missing but I haven't needed the Kindle so I wasn't worried...yet) and the other was, of course, for the hand vac! Not sure how long that bag has been sitting there, but at some point I grabbed some things that needed to be put away and I threw them in the bag for the time being. Well, the hand vac is now charging. The Kindle will charge tomorrow. And those cords will go into the appropriate box and then I'm going back into that bag to see what else needs to be put in a proper place! Organization is never perfect, is it? Somehow, something always manages to escape the system! lol -Claudia- image from pixabay

I have goals to be as organized as you are....but i am quite a clutter brain. I usually know the VICINITY that the object i am looking for should be...but i am no where this organized. So you are already far ahead of some of us.

Thanks but that's only because I recently moved! lol Before the move, everything in my life was so disorganized and it drove me crazy! lol So I made sure that I got most everything organized as I was packing and now I just have to keep making sure that things get put away properly. It takes some time and thought but you can do it, too!

Yes, I'm sure it does. It's difficult to keep everything perfectly organized all the time.

I would give anything to be as organized as I used to be. That day will be coming when I have time to myself again.

@CRK109 That is what I am trying to do. Things have been so hectic lately that things are everywhere.

It does take some time and a lot of commitment, but I've learned the importance of keeping things organized as well as I can. There are times when I need to put my hands on an important document and it's not good if it's just floating around the place! So I'm working very hard on this again and will make sure that I get papers filed at least once a week.

I know how that goes, Judy! Once you get settled, there are boxes that can wait. You want to just relax and live life! As for my cord...it makes sense to me that I found it when I'd finally decided to stop looking! lol

I have had that happen before. Once it was the remote for the TV. I picked it up on my way out and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what box I had put it in. I ended up buying one of those universal remotes. About six months later I was setting stuff up for Christmas and low and behold there was my remote in the box with the Christmas decorations. Who would have thought of looking there? lol

It's annoying that practically all our gadgets need different chargers - there should be one universal one shouldn't there? Glad you found yours.

We moved 6 months ago and I still have boxes in my bedroom closet to unpack. But, they are mainly office boxes when we had a third bedroom that we used as an office. Right now we are in a two bedroom so I have no place to put the stuff.

That's so true. From time to time I have thought myself very organised but then I find I'm not as smart - or as organised - as I thought I was.
