My doll is "vintage" now.

I made a post about my granddaughter´s birthday and how she received lots of Polly Pocket dolls. I wondered first if they would replace Barbies and then I remembered my own doll, completly replaced I went to the web and started to search. There´s nothing I can´t find there. And sure enough, I wrote Ginny dolls and there were some, even for sale now, at E Bay. They were much as I remember mine (my daughters tore her apart). I used to buy Simplicity patterns for her and make clothes. I learnt to sew then and there. When Barbies came into being, I was not interested. I was more interested in parties and boys and my parents wanted me to study. No tiem for dolls or clothes. I confess I was never fond od Barbie with her grown up body, one that I would never have. The vintage Ginny was expensive. But I still wonder they could send it to Chile. Am I too old to own a doll?

I have never liked Barbie doll. When they arrived in Italy I was no more young enough to appreciate dolls.

I was too old when I noticed Barbies. I was then more aware of a certain boy that later became my husband

@LadyDuck I was 14 then. I was looking at boys and reading in my spare time.

@marguicha When it was first commercialized in Italy, it was the year 1959, I was 8 years old. Too young to look at the boys, but too old to consider the dolls.

Right! I´ll save money for a doll now. After checking, I have enough money for the doll (out of my luxury savings. Now I´ll have to earn for the shipping to my country.

@marguicha Cool you enjoy that doll. You deserve to have something you want even if it is a doll.

I should do a search for the Ginny doll as it sounds familiar and I think it could be one my mother had. We were once in awhile allowed to play with her old dolls.

@marguicha I think its nice to share the things e loved with our kids. Most things my kids didn't enjoy as much as I did though.

haha, when I read the title, I thought that you have a vintage doll to sell for a lot of money! I think your granddaughter will tell all her friends that you want to buy a doll to play too!

I am not too old to play and have never been. I confess that most of my friends are a little excentric as they are mostly artists. None of them are fully grownups yet and neither am I at 71

True! My husband, who was a pro soccer player when he was young, once told someone at a party that he had stopped collecting football player stamps when he got one with his face

I´ll be checking and saving now that I remembered Ginny. To think that I forgot about her for so long! Shame on me!
