Still Remember the Day

Darling daughter and I were getting ready to go shopping. We did it once a week and hadn't bothered to look to see what the actual date was. We simply piled into the car and started off. That's when we heard on the radio what had just happened. At first we thought that it was a sick joke. Hubby had left Howard Stern on the dial and as I never ever liked his kind of humor, I just looked at my daughter and shook my head. And then we noticed something in his voice. Something wasn't right and we began to listen more closely. He wasn't kidding... he was actually as upset as everyone else was. So, our day didn't quite go as plan. We spent most of the afternoon sitting in our favorite restaurant watching as things unfolded. Sad day!

A dreadful day. I can remember my husband was working in London at the time and he felt certain London would be attacked also. It was a very frightening time.

I was at home in the country. My first thought was to reach out to family members. I had to know they were safe even though none of them lived or worked in NYC.
