I never know that playing game can be so rewarding. I learn something so surprising that when I check out the earnings of professional gamers. They take part in gaming tournaments, and they can win $800,000 a team in a game tournament. The top player in record on E-sports Earnings makes $2,618,120.36. His game earnings mainly come from Dota-2 gaming tournaments. The most surprising thing is that the country with players making the most money comes from China, followed by USA. I never thought that China has so many good professional gamers who can make big money playing games.
This list represents the top players in esports who won the most prize money based on information published on the internet. Sources include news articles, forum posts, live report threads, interviews, official statements, reliable databases, VODs and othe

The big winners are the exception to the rule. Most players lose. Otherwise the site or game sponsors wouldn't make any money.

@BettyB Not really right to say that most players lose. Most players do not take part in tournaments. They do not bother to travel around the world to participate. Most players just play their own games at home, and they have own target to achieve (if they ever set a target). They spend money if they want to progress up the level faster or if they want special effects or escape "farming" (meaning the gathering of resources for building of fortress or something).

I think the internet and gaming has really changed the professions for many people. Hard to imagine how your relatives will react when you tell them that you play game for a living.

@skysnap True, even though game testers do not make a lot of money.

@scheng1 well there are game companies hiring testers so this is real job now.

They might be pro in their profession, as it would not be easy to earn such a good amount otherwise.

There are upfront costs and expenses. They have to fly to a location to take part in the tournaments, and there is no guarantee that they will win the game.

It can be a wonderful dream, but it can easily become a bad nightmare if you lose.

Not really. Many game tournaments have some stages that are easy to pass, and with little money involved as prize money. The best team from these mini tournaments will represent their countries to fly to another country for the final tournament. I think many of these are young people who play for fun, and they are so good that they get picked to join in the final big one.

But it is difficult to be a good professional gamer.Other things in life will be affected if you spend too much time playing games.

I wonder the games are always one of the main profit income for the company. People can not leave the games, even if they are already grown people. Here there are several very big game companies and they continuously release new games. Of course I am not so crazy about it. But some people even want to spend a lot of money just buy a "virtual sword".

Sounds like a dream job! It would be fun to do. What is the name of the top game player? Does anyone know? Just curious. :)
