Do you get to feel intimidated by your partner's success?

My boyfriend and I belonged to the same field. Both of us love to cook and we both wanted to work in a restaurant or hotel. As time goes by, I'm beginning to feel like we started to grow apart. We started having fights and even resulted to numerous break ups. We both realised sooner that maybe the reason why we're struggling in our relationship was that we both were intimidated by each other's success/achievements. Now that we learned our mistakes, we begin supporting each other and we find ways to build up each other.

learning from each other makes more sense than fighting each other

True. We won't be able to settle our differences if we're just going to hurt each other. Learning how to compromise did help us a lot.

Nice to see that you have learnt from your mistakes and have understood how to support each other now. Its inevitable to feel intimidated by successes in the same field. Its only your love that will keep you going at trying times like those, so never lose that love.

That's good to hear. You're behaving like mature adults now.

This is, by far, the most mature romantic relationship that I had.

True. As time went by, I'm beginning to understand the fact that we're all grown ups now.
