Kaepernick has an African American father but was raised by a white couple alongside their children after being put up for adoption. This is the football player making oodles of dollar. Will not stand up during the anthem. Then we have Ryan Lochte lying to the official about a robbery. He was protest at Dancing with the Stars. Why is he on there. What kind of example is he setting there. Then we have Rick Perry who flopped on the Stars. Now they are saying Hillary has a body double. Such fun these newscaster.Never a dull moment. Something is not right here. Photo is public domain Colin Kaepernick.

I have just about stopped watching the news because who knows what is real and what is not. Drama!

I watch just enough news to keep me informed. But all this "extra stuff" to me is not news.

I think he has a right to protest, but picking the flag of our beloved country was a poor choice.

His reasons for not standing during the anthem are clear and he has the right to do that. It is not about his privilege or his money, but about a serious racial problem that exists in this country.

@JamesHxstatic I am sorry,James no offensive. this is a poor excuse. We all know what is going on in the country. If he felt this way.Is he doing anything beside protesting?I do not go along with this.I am sure many veterans and even black veterans do not tolerate. If he want to do something to help. This is not.We know we have many racial problems. Not the black,Jews, muslim,go on and on and on.No it is not right. This is his country and he should stand with the others.

@amadeo Actually, many veterans of all colors are supporting his protest. I am a vet, in fact.

@amadeo In the US, there is none more credible for me than PBS. I listen daily to NPR for true reporting.

I guess I'm old fashioned. I was taught respect. I could not imagine not standing for the national anthem......American or Canadian. How can he possibly justify this.
• United States
14 Sep 16
I forgave the kneeling because at first I thought they were praying or were over come with emotion like happens to some people during the anthem. I'm more disappointed they chose to do their protest during a 9/11 commemoration.

I went to high school during the Vietnam War. We had many students in junior high and high school who chose to join a religious organization that did not support saying the pledge, or many other things. They sat at their desk. We ignored them. I think some of these people just need to be ignored. I am sorry that we are not treated equally. I am sorry that there is no way to weed out the bad cops yet that has been effective. I am sorry Ryan Lochte represented us, it is an embarrassment.

There will always be people who are so different , but they don't care . But i admire the courage of Kaepernick , though standing is to show respect to the flag .

WHAT is this "people of color" garbage? I have color in my skin. The only people who don't are albinos! Talk about a racist statement! As for the news, I think John Prine had the best idea in his song "Spanish Pipedream": "blow up your TV, throw away your papers."
