What makes a post interesting anyway?

I'm still a little confuzzled on why certain posts get stuck on "Interesting Discussions" when not much is going on with it. Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying that anyone's posts shouldn't be there because everyone does post interesting topics. I just don't understand what makes it go to that part when little to no people have responded to it. Actually, I am still a little confuzzled on the difference between the "Top Rated Discussions" and "Hot Discussions." Is Top Rated meaning the amount of Likes? And Hot meaning the responses?

Interesting is related to the tags you have used so should be different for everyone. Top rated is amount of likes in proportion to amount of responses but is often very similar to the hot list. Hot is amount of responses and activity. That's my understanding anyway.

@JolietJake I was going to tag you but thought you'd get here at some stage. I did think that but decided to add activity and responses just to be on the safe side

@JolietJake Excuse me having the temerity to disagree with you. When the site was changed a few months ago I wrote down what myLotBugs wrote about it - it may even have been on one of your own discussions. Anyway, you were right about the Top Rated - they are based on the number of likes in the previous 24 hours. However, Bugs said ''The Hot Discussions list is based on the most responses within the last 24 hours, regardless of when they were posted''. @Mike197602 @VivaLaDani13 - you may find this of interest.

@jaboUK so it's purely responses on the hot list...I never visit that area so don't really know but I thought it was either responses or activity or a combination. It is of interest to me in a factual way but as I never get to the top of that list I'm not bothered I seem to get responses over quite a few days rather than 24 hours.

I wondered at first it 'Interesting Discussions' was the equivalent of 'Featured Posts' on Bubblews. Most of those featured posts were very ordinary, probably picked at random or else they were posts written by the site owner.

@5thHouse I never got a chance to see Bubblews. I wish I could have seen because so many MyLotters talk about it.

Interesting is related to tags you use on your posts. That's why they should be at least of some interest as they share tags...another reason why it's a good idea to use tags in the right way.

'Interesting' list is based on tags that we find 'interesting' thus we use often. Everyone 'Interesting' list is different. 'Top Rated' list is based on number of 'Likes'. It consists of all discussions posted within 24 hours. 'Hot' discussions look to me as ones that are interacted the most (liked/responded/commented).

I am not sure about the specifics though other myLot members have confirmed it. I just read all of it. You know what is the moral of the story? Add a tag in your posts whenever you do one and use that tag related to the type of posts you want to see in "Interesting Discussions"

I have not the slightest clue but I'm learning from the others who responded, I rarely start a discussion contented with responding and commenting. Good question

@VivaLaDani13 Even if I use tags, most of my discussions do not feature in Interesting Discussions. There should be more to it than using tags - sivs
