Do you determine your fate or is it predetermined

this argument is as old as religion and a clear answer has never been found. there are those who believe that no matter what they do, the end game is already spelt out by a higher power whilst others believe that only they themselves are in charge what happens with them.
which school of thought do you subscribe to?

I don't give up on my goal even if it felt hopeless. No one can control my destiny but me. Something I learned is sometimes the worst brings up the best in us.

What has come to be called the "Golden Rule" shows that we, as individuals, have a choice. However if we disobey the commandments, then the end result of those individuals that disobey God is predetermined which is destruction.
Matthew 7:12-14 (King James Version)
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

I believe we determine our own fat. If you work hard at what you want and don't give up then you will succeed at getting what you want. It just all depends on how much you want it and are willing to work for it.

@Inyia1 One of them probably just wanted it more than the other one. Self discipline and determination is important in working for what we want just as important as putting the work in and just because that one person isn't successful right now, whose to say he want be in a week or month from now if he just doesn't give up. Aslo who are you to say that they aren't already both successful? In their eyes they might already be successful. We each have our own goals and our own beliefs of what successful or achieving those goals means. Plus we make decisions all through our lives that will change our fat so yes I do believe we have control over our own fate and destiny.

Indeed its a tough question to answer. However, let me share the limited knowledge I gain through some experience, experience of others, and from the Book of books. God is the captain of my fate, but have given me the freedom to know His purpose for my life. I will be happiest when I align my purpose to His will. There are things that are predetermined and there are things that I need to work out to reach it. I am thinking of many more but my school of thought is still in the growth stage. You may have lots of them but what do you think of my limited idea shared in here?

I realy have no idea. But yea everything comes bace on what we do or what others do to us. But on the other hand if someone is so lucky because its pure luck and not what he does or other do to him..its obvious that he has a better life. Ive met truly lucky peoble. So i can not stop thinking of that as well.

I believe that God have things they he want us to have and go through. Sometimes we cause things on ourselves, for example you reap what you sow.
