When you search the Internet, you find that teaching English, especially to our Eastern Cultures, must certainly becoming a multi-million dollar industry.
It seems a very complicated process to learn English as a second Language, and there is a great need for that in the market.
Are people making this seem so complicated just so that they can exploit poor people in need of this?
That, whilst learning a language should be one of the most enjoyable and natural activities thinkable.
During my 35 years of teaching I have tried almost everything to teach black learners English, and I had to learn the hard way, the incredibly simple laws governing the skill of learning a new language.
In the end I had remarkable success in helping them to speak and read English.
This knowledge must be worth millions in the market, but first I would love to hear what experience others had in this field.

Hello FJ.
First of all, thanks for this discussion on easy ways to learn English.
In the past three decades, English has become a very important subject in schools in China. With the fast development of its economy, more and more people are learning English whatevver age they are. Parents pay special attention to their children's English study and let them study English at a a very young age. Primary schools start to teach kids English in the third year. Kids usually do a good job in learning the first stage of English, like ABC and some simple words and dialogues. But as it goes on, the language becomes more and more difficult and some of them give up, especially when they are at senior high school. Poor English level is usually the cause that they lose confidence in English study. So I have a question for you, dear FJ, could you please give me some advice on how to make the kids keep up their interest in learning English?
Looking forward to your response.
Best wishes,
one of your faithful readers

@Eitchy Children do only what they like doing unfortunately. If they do not like something they will not do it. Take them to the local library and help them to search for something that they really like. Make sure it fascinates them. You can also offer a reward if they finish reading it. It can be anything...even comics, as long as it makes them read.
You can also go to this link above and read the article I wrote on this.
If you can find ways to get them interested in reading you have won half of the battle.
I myself started when I was 5 years old and have never stopped since. Without specialised studies in English I eventually became Head of Department in English Primary Schools, and my main course at College was Physical Education. All thanks to reading English.
Breakthrough discovery made by a veteran language teacher with 35 years real experience in education. Teaching a second language is as easy as saying R-E-A-D.

Yes Amel, myLOt is definitely a good way to improve, as you will be involved in another practical aspect of learning a language, which is writing.

Yes so true Mayzee. There are problems though that especially South African blacks and the Eastern Cultures have with English when it comes to pronunciation etc. Business people in Tokyo wants to learn to speak the language as a Western person does. How can that be accomplished?

Certainly Ava, that will help a lot. It is practical experience that helps us learn a language.
Staying in London will quickly a person to speak out of pure necessity. I was actually thinking of less brutal way to make do.
