Are you afraid of heights?

I use to be afraid of height. I didn't even like to get stuck at the top of a Ferris wheel. I would not fly in an airplane either for fear of crashing. Years ago I did fly to see my daughter out of state by myself. I sat by two great people. One played cards with me, and the other humored my fears in a good way. A year ago I went zip lining which was a too high of an adventure I had thought. My profile picture is after I landed my last level. It was great, and I would do it again. Then over 6 months ago I went para-sailing with my daughter. I was scared to death and begged her not to make me do it. Then, when I saw a little girl set down before they airlifted her off the deck I saw she was smiling, and as she went higher she started waving. I thought to myself if she can do I would be able to do it as well. I was scared the few seconds before lift off, but then when we reached the top and I was able to see what looked like the whole state and I was amazed. I did look down and laughed and expressed to my daughter how high we actually were. Most of the time I looked around, and could not believe how beautiful everything looked to me.
I am not saying I would jump out of an airplane lol but I can not say I could never do it either. I have conquered my fear of heights and it feels like I am a new person ready to try another uneven been done before the adventure. Life is full of doubt but if you try you may just conquer your fears. i am not telling everyone to try what I did. I am just telling about my experience that helped me conquer my fear of heights.

Your story is very inspiring. I have tried a number of times to conquer my fear of heights and have been unable to do so. I have tried to start small, but it just doesn't work for me. I literally start having a panic attack, I have tried laughter and telling myself it's all in my head , but then I start to not be able to breath. Once on the ground I swear I'm never trying again. It has been years now since the last time I tried, to conquer my fear. I know that the fear is unwarranted most of the time. Congratulations on your accomplishment.

Honestly what helped me sounds funny but it works Try squinting ! When I was ziplining I told myself that I would not squint but I did a couple of times and then I would tell myself just open my eyes while slightly squinting. It really works. I would do it on a roller coaster now and it would help I may be nervous a little but for me, it helps me do it. You just do what makes you comfortable

@RubyHawk I never thought I would be able to conquer this fear. Beeing afraid of heights hurt a few very important memories that could have had. I did find a way that started my road to conquering this fears as I have mentioned above. This sounds funny but it works. When you squint your fear may be minimized. Then each time you practiced this action it may make it easier for you.

Nope. The higher the better. I love going on hikes in the mountains, I want to go skydiving, bungee jumping, etc. There is actually a bridge in China & Switzerland that I want to go to. The one in China is just small planks of wood that stick out of the side of a mountain & you are connected to the side of the mountain with just a rope and you walk around it. The one in Switzerland is the same but it is a glass bridge instead.

What a great story I really admire you for doing those things. I do not have a fear of height but I don't think I am adventurous enough to try the things that you have! You certainly are living life to the fullest!
