Does Work From Home Decrease Overall Productivity?

A few days back, I was going through an article which stated that official work from home culture reduces the overall professional growth of a person in the long run.
Given the traffic snarl and the day to day hassle of reaching office on time, more and people are now opting for work from home, of course, if the employer permits. But the study says, due to work-from-home, the peer interaction reduces, and so is the productivity.
Now the question is which one has more impact on a person's level of efficacy - immense exhaustion due regular road rattles or lesser official interaction...
N.B. - After going through responses, I'm further adding this line to my post. Here actually I meant to say about the people who do their office works from home... not the home based works.

I don't agree with that article. I became even more productive when I worked from home. Just imagine how unproductive I was while I was in the midst of traffic jam for 2 to 3 long hours.

Why should it be when you are more relaxed working at home .
Well, interaction is lessened of course . But you can get that virtually , like in myLot .

no, i don't think so. even if we have professional work, we must not get discouraged when we work our chores at home. it actually can help us improve our patience and perseverance when some chores are hard to accomplish
