The Incredible Joy Of Washing Dishes

Does anyone here in MyLotLand enjoy washing dishes as much as I do? I don't have a dishwasher appliance and I don't ever intend to have one. Why would I deprive myself of the joy of washing dishes? For me, washing dishes is almost like a meditation. It is relaxing and fun. I try to always clear my noggin of thinking while I wash so that I can better enjoy what I'm doing. It's really quite fun washing the dishes by hand. Does anyone else feel this way or am I completely nuts?

i would say you are nuts...lmao I hate doing dishes. To me it is the worse possible chore to do. I don't have a dish washer so I wash them by hand but I hate every moment of it. My fiance loves to cook and our agreement was the he would cook and i would do the dishes. I think I got the raw end of that deal. lol I wish you lives closer you could come do my dishes! You could probably make a small fortune doing people's dishes. :)

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing washing dishes for a living wouldn't be nearly as much fun as washing them for myself in my own home. When I was a kid I hated washing dishes (a chore our mother assigned to us kids on a set schedule) but that is mostly because all I could think about while washing dishes was how much I hated it. It wasn't until I became a father that I discovered how joyful washing dishes can be. My wife and I also had an arrangement. I did all the cooking and I also did all the dish-washing. Sometimes I feel guilty that she got the short end of that stick.

@MKAlubs Wow I like that arrangement. I think I will try to renegotiate the deal I made with my fiance. lol I doubt it will work though because he hates doing dishes as much as I do.

Cooking is a chore for me,having to think of what to cook, who likes what who doesn't eat this or that .Gosh! it's difficult to think of a different menu everyday, that too, when people like me aren't good cooks. Washing dishes wins any day..

We do not have a dishwasher here and we do not want one. I love washing the dishes by hand and my husband loves to dry them while we have lovely conversations.

Wow, that's sounds like the perfect arrangement. While washing dishes can be a wonderful joy, doing it with a partner drying them can only increase the joy. Good for you, @marlina

I truly hope that I can keep washing dishes right up to the day I kick the bucket. I guess I won't fit in very well in a retirement center.

Your not nuts either way, we all enjoy different things. =) I don't enjoy doing dishes because my hands get dried out after and it literally hurts them.

@LovingMyBabies - You're right about everyone enjoying different things. Thanks for bringing that up. As for dried out hands, I drink tons and tons of water all day every day so my hands never get dried out.

I don't mind it because its mindless work it allows you to think while you get something that needs to be done I have a dishwasher but I haven't used it yet.

Yeah, what really ruins washing dishes is thinking about stuff while you're doing it. That makes it really hard to enjoy the activity.

@MKAlubs It's like therapy.Sometimes when I'm not in the best of moods, the pots and pans receive an extra rigorous scrub.

I neither like nor hate the activities of washing the dishes. I always wash the dishes manually everyday. I just consider washing the dishes as a part of my chore.

I don't have a dishwasher either, but not by choice. I can think of nicer things to do. But glad you enjoy it.
