The Best Music Videos Shot In One Take – Kiesza – Hideaway

So many pop, rock and dance videos use frantic film school, or MTV editing, chopping the images on screen every few seconds or less, creating a headache inducing subliminal effect that often detracts from the song. A few artists bravely shoot more pedestrian videos, in a few longer takes and a rare exceptional handful are done in one single take. One of the best one-take videos is this video by the Canadian dance singer Kiesza, for her 2014 song Hideaway, The video is beautifully simple. The singer gets out of a car and dances her way round a New York block as various dancers pop out of doorways and round corners to interact with her. Men flirt with her but she shoves them aside and dances on, eventually re-joining the same taxi she got out of and leaving the scene. Some dancers have multiple moments with Kiesza, and they can sometimes be seen running past camera to get into position further down the street for their next cue. The choreography is pitch perfect, and Kiesza sings with a distinct tone that many compare to Cindi Lauper. Interestingly, she did this entire quite energetic dance despite having a broken rib. Sorry, meant to comment on this yesterday, but was rudely interrupted. That is a quality video and love the way you describe it. I like when musicians can make a video like that every now and then. It really does enhance the overall song.

Nice production technique with the street scene. She looks like Cyndi Lauper.
