why we have a fear of god?

We all say that we love god but still we have lot fear from god!

@slata9687,I fear God only when I do something that He doesn't want me to do.It's just like I fear my parents,although I love them.

yeh, but we have physical presence of our God, but with GOD there is only belief

I think people who fear god actually fear punishment. I am not religious, but many people around me are, i have all my understanding from them. Why would there be fear if one has not done anything wrong?

My believe tells me God does not punish but punishment comes from external conditions. I might fear touching the red hot stove burner. That is a healthy fear. As a child I will need to learn and it is healthy to have a loving trusting parent to teach fear in a positive manner.

The generation of Fear always stems from the unknown. Religion is good at using fear to control one's actions. When one really knows God, there is no fear.
