Should we report it?

There are some mylotters lately, mostly newbies, who are writing one line posts. Some are even worse: those posts are polls. Should be just move on or report them? I would not want mylot to turn into a junk site because of that. I have friends here and I cherish their conversation. What would you do?

It is usually better to report anything dubious. If the admin are not aware of these posts then it cannot be controlled.

Good idea. I´m getting tired of posts that are barely more than the title.

@marguicha I saw one earlier that is only a string of the letter f, which I immediately reported. As you said earlier, we do not want such nonsense polluting the site.

First posts, I would point them toward the guidelines. Persistent b.s., I report.

So far, I have ignored those posts, but getting very annoyed with them constantly showing up. I think I will start reporting them.

When your own posts scroll down and noone sees them because the onelines fill the "recent posts" part, you will be more than annoyed. Today I reached my limit.

To be honest - I ignore those one sentence / poll type - I don't want to waste my time. A sentence in my mind is not a discussion. . .

@marguicha I think that these people who post such rubbish soon realise that they can't make mega bucks from posting crap, and fade away - only to be replaced with the next lot of entities with low IQ's. It's a never ending issue, as long as there is a reward, the common sense challenged will be there to try to get something for nothing. I am afraid that there is not much we can do to prevent chancers who are ignorant of the guidelines and have no grasp of what this website is all about.

Yes I have seen some like that. They devalue the site for sure and I do hope administrators can spot them. I am yet to report any though - siva

I usually tend to ignore them. There's not much to say if there's only one sentence,

I agree they could at least put in a picture and another sentence explaining it. It's so sad it got her crying.

think the site as a junk site is an administration problem. It is not my problem. As a member it could be a problem to decide what to do when you see something questionable. I try to consider the person. They might start out small and work up for example. I'm not against one word posts if there is discussion around it and there could be. Imagine a post entitled "What?" with one sentence "You talkin' to me?" or "whatchyouwantatalkabout?" I could have a great discussion with just that however I understand there are some users that just want to post for money and retreat. So the guideline on one sentence posts makes sense.

@silvermist I've never heard about any complaints from the admin about too many reportings. It is true what you said that reporting brings it to admins attention and after that no worries. Text speak is that a lanquage? - joking

@Bluedoll You may be right. But More than one sentence posts I am thinking about a text speak post.Today there was one from a member who joined 7 years ago There was a word about driving then'' id to elko, nv"!Then again ''boring roads''. We are only inviting the attention of the admin.by reporting. What is wrong with that.If we are wrong the post stands. So we know it is okay to post such posts and we wont report such posts in future.Tomorrow,my post may get reported or yours. No problem.

Ignore, unless there is a series of similar posts over a short span of time, then I would probably report. Looking after this place must seem like a life sentence...

I would report. I looked at the new posters discussion a few days ago and was appalled by the posters who were posting constantly. Shockingly they were getting comments and likes on their drivel.

@Morleyhunt @marguicha I've noticed more in the past than presently some discussions can be had by other members that discuss with each other on the threads. Sometimes the original poster never appears. That made me wonder and I don't know how it works. But does the original poster get paid for each comment and the people in the thread for each comment? - - - was that clear???

@marguicha so true. I went to have a peek at the new users discussions. At least half were little more than, "I like to watch movies. What is your favourite movie?" If it was an isolated discussion, I wouldn't be concerned, but this newbie has ten such "discussions" in the last two hours. This discussion has rated at least a dozen responses, also brief.....maybe the name of a movie. The surprising thing is that even long-time Mylotters are dignifying those "discussions" with a response.

Hopefully just by having this post here people will read it and realize that they need to make changes. Maybe they aren't aware of it or haven't read the rules. Either way I think it is great that you have posted about it here.

I hope so. I have responded a couple of oneliners from the same person telling them to read the rules. If they insist, I am reporting.

Mylot is the place for healthy discussions and not for unhealthy activities. By this time, I believe you might have decided what to do. Yes, report it to mylot admin. This would help to avoid unwanted posts hereafter.

I would te;; them about the rules and then if they continue not following rules, I would report them. I remember a non writing social site I was on and guys would come on flirty and being nasty, I would go on and tell them this site wasn't a dating site and to respect people. Usually they would quit doing this!
