I just witnessed a miracle

Our baby bobcat- she's really not- just mimics one- sat in my hubby's living room chair. She's been gone since yesterday so I had insisted she stay in with us for a bit longer this evening.
He finally got sick of not having his chair. He eased up to her and reached out, gently picked her up like a person does when handling a dangerous weapon. He managed to sit down, cat still in his arms. She yowled but then quit attempting to maim him and for a few seconds, sat on the edge of his legs. She even washed her front limb quickly. Then she jumped down. Without offering to bite or scratch.
Its been over a year since we adopted this lovely striped kitty girl. Finally our acceptance of her is starting to wiggle through her early months of neglect. What a miracle!!

Glad she is beginning to trust you folks. Patience is what it is all about.

@sallypup .....Maybe you should wear long sleeves and gloves when you do try to handle her. Low voices of course.

@celticeagle Imposing my will on this girl only sets her back so we continue to go easy. This is the first cat that a Vet gave her an antibiotic shot that lasted 2 wks instead of just handing me a bottle of pills. He stepped lightly around her, too. (She'd broken a couple of toes and gotten a fever going.)

@celticeagle You are right. Especially this gal. She has no problem biting to the quick.

Have you read the book 'Jenny' by Paul Gallico? It's a beautiful story and in it Jenny, the mother cat, is instructing her kitten in the ways of the world. The line I always remember is 'when in doubt, wash' and it seems to be the case here. :)

Female cats are harder to tame than male cats. They don't trust easily. You need to be patient with them and let them feel secure and loved. The moment they warm up to you, they become the sweetest.

@JamesHxstatic I agree. She spent the night in the house. When I got up she cursed at me so hubby let her out into the rain.

lol, that reminds me of my grams cat, you couldnt hold her close or get scratched, but if you picked her up, keeping her feet free and kinda rested her body on your hip, she was fine. I moved her all of the time, just cautiously lol

It's the same for my feral cat. At first, it won't get near me, but with time, it trusted me and follows me wherever I go.
