The Good Lord Laughs Again

Reading SmilePie's (@much2day) comment on my post about wine jelly, she told of a vodka jelly being so rubbery, her college friends starting throwing balls of it at the wall. This reminded me of a funny story I heard years back when the Methodists, Congregationalists (I think) and Presbyterians joined forces to become the Uniting Church. During the turmoil which was always going to accompany such a union, some groups broke away and formed their own worship groups. Friends of ours belonged to one such splinter group. For communion, they would use small sherry glasses to hold the communion wine. Several of the women were rostered each Sunday to pour the wine into the glasses well before the church service. On this particular Sunday, they ran out of communion wine and in desperation, they made up some port wine jelly, very diluted, and poured that into the glasses. However, when the time came, the jelly had not been sufficiently diluted and had set in the glasses. Despite their best efforts in tipping the glasses upside down, the 'wine' would not come out. When I hear of stuff like this, I always have an image of the good Lord getting his laugh for the day.

well if one believes that one was made in the image of G-d, then one could therefor use that to follow that all parts of us would also be in that image, sense of humor being one of them. Now that being said, this is a hilarious visual.

I often use the title as there are some very funny things that happen. There was a top ranking Catholic priest in the Philippines, Jaime Sin, who, when promoted high enough became 'Cardinal Sin'. You can't tell me G-d didn't have a hand in that! (I'm presuming you've heard of cardinal sins - any of the seven deadly sins.)

That is a good laugh. I'm sure the Lord was enjoying that situation immensely.

wouldn't they just add a 'chaser' in the form of a 'blessed water' so it will flow out naturally?

It would have to be hot water. I think they were in hot water enough as it was!
