Can really be a draining effort, especially when life chose to hand you a pile of horse manure in quick successions.
I usually remind myself, when we have a nightmare, we wake up from it and say "hoo, thank goodness that's just a dream", and it has come to pass...
Well, life sometimes is just like that right?
Also, I have yet to know, what I consider to be "bad"? is it really bad??
How do you stay positive?

Recently I have been through a very hard time where in my mother was very ill and I felt extremely painful for the same.During that time, I learnt and experienced the meaning of responsibility and maturity to a great extent.I gradually realised that these times are the ones which make us dig deeper into ourselves and explore beautiful potentials that we possess. So, these are the jackpots which make us land up into beautiful realities and beautiful explorations. This make us take things in a healthy and positive manner.

That is very profound, even in the worst of times, we can find something beautiful

for me i remind myself of worse times i had.. and tell myself the worst have been over..
if one day i encountered something that is worse than my worst, i would tell myself at the very least i am still breathing. i still have a chance to change things, to improve for the better. there are also so many people in the world more unfortunate, some no place to stay, some no food to even survive...

It is better to leave the things to the time. This is the best way of developing the quality of positiveness.

I'm too old not to be positive - can't waste days/weeks/months in a downer.

Try to find something to occupy yourself with that makes you feel positive.

For me, I tend to think positivity is somewhat over rated-by that I mean, if we try and just see the positive, on some level we will feel we are lying to ourselves (and we are!)-we need to consider things as they actually are, and then in a wellbalanced frame of mind we will be realists and that will be a much more healthy attitude.
As you say, what one considers bad, is a matter of context and perspective-when we see that for what it is, then it often (not always) seems less bad.
Also, a realistic approach allows us to deal with things in a way which may remedy them.

Very profound as always, things are rarely pure good and pure bad! For example I had a job that paid extremely well, but it involved me compromising some of my qualities such as honesty... I don't consider that job good, I consider it bad.
What's money to me if I become a person I dislike?

Dealing with reality is a much healthier way to handle uncomfortable situations.

It's a bit hard to stay positive at hard times.
Sometimes some even depend on others for it.
What one can do by oneself is do something they love. Even the smallest things count. Like, listen to the song you like, go through your old happy memories if you like, watch few funny videos, pet any animal you see, etc. Whatever you like, go for it!

Indeed, often times, we do not have the luxury of doing other than "carrying on" xD
I guess the key is to "dance in the rain" as oppose to "survive the storm"
