#3 in my Favorite Sitcom Characters series is Married... with Children's lovable loser Al Bundy.
Played brilliantly by Ed O'Neill, Al Bundy is a hapless women's shoe salesman, whose only claim to fame is that he played high school football, once scoring four touchdowns in one game (in the clip below, Al tells a cop that he's served his country because he played high school football.)
Al has a lazy wife (Katy Segal) who would rather eat bonbons and watch TV than cook and clean, a sexually active ditz of a daughter (Christina Applegate,) and a smart but socially awkward, horny son (David Faustino) holding him back.
Married... With Children ran for 262 episodes in 11 years. Al Bundy was the only character to appear in every episode.
Needless to say, I find Al Bundy hilarious. It's hard not to root for Al. After all, the man did serve his country.

If I were doing this list, I think Al would be number one or maybe two behind Lucy. Everyone dismissed the show as vulgar trash but I found the comedy ironic takes on reality. There are great truths in this show.

@teamfreak16 Remember when the kids shook the toaster for toaster leavings?

I loved it. You can't help but feel sorry for Al. The man was so hungry he ate a toothpaste sandwich once.

Married with Children is one of my favorite TV shows, I love watching reruns in the morning. Al Bundy was the greatest because he was never afraid to speak his mind.

I always watched it early in the morning if I woke up early, or just couldn't sleep.

You can't. Especially when it's so appropriate.

I worked for a guy who took pride in the resemblance between himself and Al with a dose of Homer Simpson. I was the one who had sold women's shoes, but he was close to Al. I ran into him last week and he has not changed a bit.

Did anybody call him "Al?" That would be funny.

They were. I liked when Al and Jefferson would scheme together.
