The Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas

One of the delights of being in Las Vegas is to see the dancing water fountains at the Bellagio Hotel. They play gorgeous music over the loudspeakers and the fountains move along with the beat of the music. On a beautiful, warm summer night, it is delightful to watch the Bellagio fountains. However, @LadyDuck recently wrote a post about the real town of Bellagio. As lovely as the Bellagio Hotel is, it doesn't hold a candle to the charming town that is its namesake. In fact, most things in Las Vegas come nowhere near the places they mimic ... Paris, the Venetian, the Luxor, New York New York, etc. In truth, they are just poor copies of the real thing. However, Las Vegas is still fun in its own way. You just have to have realistic expectations.

Thank you for the mention Deborah. Las Vegas is a city that I like a lot, but what you see is never like the real thing, even if many places, like the Bellagio and the Paris are very nice. The most deceiving for me has been the Monte-Carlo, nothing to do with the small Principality on the Mediterranean.

@DeborahDiane We had breakfast at the Monte-Carlo one morning and I have to say that it was the worst service we had in Las Vegas, even the food was not very good.

@LadyDuck - Yes, you are absolutely right that the Las Vegas sites are nothing like the real thing. I had forgotten about the Monte-Carlo!

@LadyDuck - I'm sorry to hear that. We have never eaten in the Monte-Carlo. Now I have no wish to eat there in the future!

It is a Disneyland for adults I suppose.

@JamesHxstatic - So far the concept of bullet trains in California has all been talk. One of these days, though, it could actually happen!

@JamesHxstatic - Funny you should call it a Disneyland for adults. There has been talk the last few years about building a bullet train from Disneyland in Anaheim directly to Las Vegas. I think a lot of vacationers would love being able to go both places easily on the same trip!

My hubby's uncle is a dry clean in Vegas. He says he cleans the star's fancy clothes.

I have heard about them, but have seen the one in Madrid on which it is based, music, colors, and all. It was magnificent!

@DianneN - Dancing fountains, with music and lights, wherever they are located, are very enchanting!

I've seen that fountain featured in various movies and think they are beautiful. Vegas is known for it's glamour and glitz, not to be compared with the real thing the casinos are named for.

@just4him - Yes, you are right. Vegas is known for glamour and glitz ... not for creating duplicates of the real things. The Bellagio fountains were a spectacular addition to the city.

Sounds very much like Disneyworld, especially Epcot as I remember it back in 1992.

@Vivenda - Yes, Epcot is a fascinating place to visit. Since we live so near Disneyland (about 1/2 an hour drive), we have only been to Disneyworld once. I think it was in about 1987.
