Doing chores with a 2 year old.

Doing any type of chore with my 2 year old wide awake is not easy. He like to either try and "help" me or just get in the way and try and be all cute. It's not always so cute. Today I was vacuuming my downstairs and I had to keep stopping because he was either playing with the cord or turning it on and off since he knows which button it is. He may not be talking much yet, but man is he smart. It's also hard for me to do dishes. He likes to try and help by taking them out, but then I'm afraid of him dropping the dishes lol. I know he tries, but he needs to stay out of the kitchen when I am trying to put them away. Ah the joys of folding laundry with him. He likes to take all my hard work and get them messy again lol. I can't wait until he is old to actually do all this stuff with me the right way. :-)

Hi. I remember those days when my son was that age . He would want to help me vacuum the carpet in the mobile home we lived at that time. Doing the dishes was another adventure. I did let him dry the dishes but still checked to make sure each one was dry. I miss those days each year went by so very quickly. Your son will grow up and you will miss those times with him. He's 39 now with children of his own and he taught them on how to do chores when each onewas little. He had a lot of patience with them.

I can relate. My kids want to help when we're trying to clean. It's not always easy to do.

Nope lol. But I'd rather try when he's awake. When he goes down is when I wind down.

@DanieGirl this is a curious time. When he is old enough to really help you believe me he will have his own interests. Try to get him interested in his toys or something. I used to get absorbed in coloring books and drawing my own pictures. One thing my mom did when I was a toddler was to use those special plastic dishes for awhile so that I could help but nothing would happen if I dropped them. She went back to regular dishes when I was around 5 or 6.
