I've Become Addicted to YouTube

I never realized how addictively wonderful YouTube can be. I love certain shows from British TV. In order to watch them, I have had to download Hola and then pretend I am in the UK. This always bothered me especially since in order to get it free you basically let someone else use your URl to get free US TV.
Anyway, I found the Great British Bake Off on YouTube about an hour after it airs in the UK. I am in Heaven. I was able to go back and watch Season 1 in its entirety. PBS in the US has shown other seasons over the years but not Season 1.
I have also been watching Who Do You Think You Are, the British version. I love it. Boris Johnson had one of the most interesting genealogies I have ever seen. Today I watched Marianne Faiithful and Twiggy. I will have many more hours of fun watching all the great shows on YouTube.
How about you, are you using YouTube?

I love the Great British Bake Off, I love how we get to know the participants And since I am a genealogist, WDYTYA gives me ideas about how to find information. I haven't forgotten about our great aunt but I am at a standstill about where to find information. .

I have watched several seasons of GBBO and also QI by casting Youtube from my tablet to the Roku - which works pretty well. There are a couple of Youtube users who are quick to put up new shows. I did note that we lost a couple of seasons to DMCA complaints - they were taken down due to copyright. Even if it's on Youtube, it's unlikely to be sanctioned.

I figured it had to do with the sale of the rights to PBS since year one seems to be immune and hasn't been shown on PBS. What they called season one was really season II. I did wonder about copyright but since there are few if any legitimate ways to watch British TV from the US we are left with few options. Hola is certainly gray and getting a broken fire stick is also very gray!! I would happily pay for cable Brit Tv if it were offered.

@Rollo1 Oh Lordy, but this brings up the same issue as the fire stick that is jail broken, my brother has that and it is amazing but I can't really pretend I think it is okay, I am having a struggle with my conscience.

I'm not much of a YouTube person unless I'm looking for a song and then I'll hunt for it on YouTube

@BelleStarr This past year it struck me just how much more than music is on YouTube! I'd never realized it before. But now, when I have a question about almost anything, I go there first! It's pretty amazing.

I watched The Great British Baking Show a couple of years ago on PBS. Then I went straight to YouTube and watched previous seasons, like you. The latest season just finished on PBS, and then I read there is some problems and Mel and Sue won't be back as hosts. I was so disappointed.

@BelleStarr I cannot wait for PBS to show the new season! I wish I didn't have to wait.
Did you see last Christmas they had Mary Berry come do a Holiday version for the U.S.? I loved it! It wasn't as long a season, of course, but it was enough to enjoy. The hosts were married actors Ian Gomez and Nia Vardalos. I can't remember the guy they had replace Paul's place, but he was similar in temperament. .Having Mary Berry was the right choice to bring over if they weren't going to have both Mary and Paul.
I love that people are so nice. Even the U.S version.

Are you watching the current season? Season 7? It is happening right now. Now that Channel 4 owns GBBS we can't even be sure Paul and Mary will be back. What a loss for BBC1. Mel and Sue will certainly be missed. I am going to start watching the great Irish Bake Off and Great Australia Bake Off I love the whole idea of these shows.

@BelleStarr I am also addicted to youtube ever since i have got a fast internet connection , I keep browsing youtube to find videos all around the world . Some of my most liked videos are impractical jokers, prank videos and Linux videos as I keep updating myself with any technical content on youtube.
The fact is me and my wife would rarely turn the TV on as we watch what we would like to ON YOUTUBE but TV makes you watch those genres and shows that mass audience would want to watch.
