Sprite In Cooking

Stir fry

The other day I was the one who cooked our lunch. I made stir fry pork with the vegetables that I had in the fridge. When I tasted the meat, it was already tender for me and my cousin but then we thought about my father. We thought that it was still hard for him to chew. I was thinking that next time I just use mince meat for him. I thought why not tried adding sprite soda drink in the meat before adding the veggies to make it so tender for my father. I have heard that soda drinks can make the meat tender. Have you used sprite or other soda drink to tenderise your meat? Anyway, the stir fry was delicious and we ate it with gusto. What´s your meal for today?

@hereandthere Nope I was told to marinate the meat for about 30 minutes before cooking and it turned out soft and tender.. No sweetness that I noticed.. I like mine spicy.

I finished off the gyro I had in the fridge. I didn't have any cucumber sauce left, so I used sour cream, it was just as good.

@hereandthere It comes pre-made, but I think its a combination of feta cheese, cucumber and sour cream to make it creamy. I'm not really sure, but I think that's how it's made. It's always used on gyros.

I use Sprite or Seven-Up for "Tahong" or mussels... I haven't tried it in pork. Maybe it tastes good for the barbecue. That is by marinating the pork in Sprite together with the soy sauce and vinegar...

I have never heard that soda drink tenderise the meat, but I know that papaya tenderise the meat. I think that I should prefer papaya, the sodas are so full of sugar.

That's good @Macarrosel. That was the first time I used sprite in tenderising meat. The thing is, I don't like sweet food besides the desserts.

I actually have used soda for the purpose of tenderizing meat especially great when you don't have fresh fruits to use or access to a place that sells what you need close by.

It is because soda contains acid, which is what tenderizes meat. So basically...anything with acid will tenderize meat.

Yes, i have heard about Sprite that it can tenderize meats specially for marinating those for barbecues . Though i don't try it for stir fries because it might make the whole taste of the stir fried veggies a bit weird . So , it is delicious after all . I might try that when i am in a hurry to tenderize the meat for the stir fried veggies.

You will add the veggies when the meat is tender @SIMPLYD so the soda has already evaporated.
