Are You A Person Who Worries?

I have to admit that the older I get, the more I worry about my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.
I KNOW that worrying is a COMPLETE waste of time and that nothing wastes more energy than worrying. I also KNOW that most of what I worry about NEVER happens.
I do TRY to not think about things that COULD happen, but unfortunately FOR ME, it’s almost a daily thing anymore.
My fifteen year old grandson is about to get his driver’s license and that is really SCARY. The funny thing is that I don’t remember being anxious about my children getting their driver’s licenses. I was much younger then, of course.
I think worrying about such things just comes with OLD AGE. I hate it too. It’s not like I sit and worry all day. I don’t. But, when my children are traveling or driving in bad weather, or any number of other situations, I am always relieved when they arrive safely.
They always call or text me, when they get where they are going, because they KNOW that I want to know that they arrived safely.
I don’t worry much about anything else, but I do worry about my family.
There’s a scripture in the Bible that describes what happens when a person gets old. (Ecclesiastes 12:1-7) Verse 5 says “…they have become afraid merely at what is high, and there are terrors in the way…”
So, I guess it’s a natural passage of life to worry about things when a person gets old. I really don’t like it though.
What about you?

It really makes me angry that I worry so much. I just can't seem to overcome it though.

Yes, that's the point that I can't seem to get in my head. Whether I worry or not, things are going to happen. Worrying doesn't change that fact.

I think its just natural for a mother to worry about her children. I remember when my mother was alive and she used to worry about ME when I traveled. So, I stopped telling her when I was going out of the country. I would tell her about my trip when I got back home.
She lived about 100 miles from me, near my brother, so he would make sure she was OK.

I am a worrier and have been for most of my life. I always worry about something happening to my family. I always think of the worse thing that could happen and then worry about it. When my children were living at home I never rested when they were out anywhere. I could only rest once I knew they were safe at home or wherever they were at. They always had to call and check in with me. Even now that they are on their own I worry about them if I know they are traveling. If there is a snowstorm and i know they are out in it I worry. If I hear of an accident and i know it is on a road that they travel on I call them to make sure they are safe.
I worry about things happening to my grandchildren all the time. I try to tell myself that worrying does no good but I can't help it. My Dad was a worrier. He worried about us all the time. I guess I get it from him.

One of my sons drives a tractor trailer up and down the Interstate highways. If I hear about a tractor trailer wreck, and there are plenty of those on the news, I always worry that it could be him. He's been driving for years now. He's a good driver, but he also has to drive in bad weather sometimes.

Yes, we need not worry about tomorrow, because it will come and go, just like all of the other tomorrows. Worrying is a real waste of time. I KNOW it, but I still do it. ARG.

Yes, I agree with you. An older person is more aware of their mortality, where a younger person thinks bad things will never happen to them.
